Locating the OTAS x3tc

Post by Elusiv1 »

Is there a sector in the x universe that the otas control? i have seen a few of there ships while playing that i would liek to add to the collection... I didnt know if there is a otas shipyard that i can buy them from or if I need to go about aquiring them in a more underhanded manor

Legend's Home.

It is south of Akeela's Beacon, which itself is east of Aladna Hill, pretty much dead centre of the Universe map.

*edit*

Most OTAS ships are available from a shipyard there. You need max ranking with OTAS to get the Sirokos M7 boarding craft at the Shipyard; no weapons but takes 40 marines and boarding pods galore.

The Venti M3 is a prize for reaching the fourth-from-top rank. The Notus Hauler M3+ cannot be got by legit means... I own two

Some might consider it a spoiler, so:

The shipyard and HQ belonging to OTAS is in Legend's Home (south of Akeela's Beacon).
Not all their ships are buyable, some must be captured, some awarded, and some don't exist.

thanks for the responses...obviously i havent explored as much of the universe as i thought i have, because i havent found either of the mentioned sectors...I love this game, without a doubt the most in depth and expansive game ive ever played.

When you say dont exist..do you mean i might see them under computer control...or they are said to be in the game but are not. Like some of the ships at the yaki shipyard that you can buy but then cant launch them from the shipyard???

Good to know that the otas are out there though, i was starting to think they didnt have a home base

And, since this got moved to the spoilers section, whats the deal with aldrin? ive had my scout ship mapping the sector at 600k for along time now and still havent found a jump gate...I know there has got to be more to aldrin then just that one huge sector...or at least im hoping there is

Aldrin doesn't have any jumpgates. Yet. There is a later plot that adds two.

As maphys said, a plot adds jump gates to it.

The Terran Plot has involvement with Aldrin, I can only guess that this is the one that adds the gates.

Terran plot is pretty awesome, in the sense that they give you a free M5 (unequipped though), a free M3 (geared up) and a free M6 (25MJ shielding with no weaponry... Though it can get 5x200MJ shields and up to 14 guns including the 2 turrets)

As for finding the OTAS sector... If you start from Argon Prime

East to Brennan's Triumph
South to Danna's Chance
East to Nopileo's Memorial
East to Hatikvah's Faith
East to Aladna Hill
East to Akeela's Beacon
South to Legend's Home
If you haven't located Argon Prime in your game, give me a sector you have located (like Omicron Lyrae, for example) and I'll give you directions from it. (If you do need directions from somewhere else, let me know if Xenon sectors are off limits so I can navigate around them if possible.)

No the Terran plot ends without adding jump gates. It is the follow up Aldrin plot (added in 2.1 IIRC) that adds them. Which means you have to have done the Terran, Final Fury, Goner and the first few bits of the HUB plots.
More detailed:

You get a gate from Aldrin (N) to Neptune (N), plus another gate from Aldrin (E) leading to a cluster of Terran Unknown Sectors (3 of them).

Leave the sector and give the travel commands remotely. Then it will work.

Almost...

The Neptune gate (which is a Terran-built gate, and looks awesome if a little clunky!) links to one of the Terran Unknown Sectors (TUS2, specifically). As well as the TUSs, there is Aldrin 2 (which is where the jumpgate network ends again) which connects by trans-orbital accelerator to Aldrin.

It is basically an inverted T that I have never seen shown on a map. Neptune is at the top, Aldrin at the bottom left and...

... There's also a very dangerous Xenon sector attached to TUS3 which makes the bottom right of the inverted T. Q patrols coming from here are a regularity. Do not put any important station in either TUS3 or TUS1 unless you have a powerful defence force in TUS3!
After the Aldrin plot is begun, Aldrin has a group of internal trans-orbital accelerators added linking the three groups of factories. These are the only 'gates' that move you around a single sector instead of between sectors. The silly thing is, nothing uses them. The other silly thing is, they all point away from each other...

Again, thanks for the help...I managed to locate the otas last night after i posted that message. i feel kinda bad for asking now, i actually have a small missle production complex in that unknown sector thats almost directly below them..i actually parked my ship there when i left the game to ask the question..lol

Good to hear a solution to the yaki shipyard issue, i tried everything but what was suggested to launch the small fleet of military freighters i purchased there

I feel like a dumbass concerning the aldrin missions...i have looked at the faq several times and completely overlooked the aldrin plot...for some reason my mind had it bent that aldrin was part of the terran campaign and after completing it i had it in my mind that aldrin should have opened up...im still playing 2.1..not sure what the IIrc means..but ive got a way to go on the goner missions and havent even been aproached for the hub mission yet so hopefully im upgraded enough to have the aldrin missions.

Well, im going to get back to my addiction..again, thanks for the help

Post- completion of the Aldrin plot, which opens up the five new 'T' sectors connecting Aldrin to Neptune, there are a total of 230 sectors.

Before this, there are 225.

Look at your statistics (Pilot menu, page down) to see you many you've visited. That'll tell you how many more you need to find...
