seems you have already found the problem.

but no, it doesn't remove the stuff in the game directories. The idea is that you may want to uninstall then reinstall the plugin manager, but not lose the info thats installed in the game directory.

its easy enough to clear thou

Will installing and enabling mod mode cause problems to the x-tended mod? I read somewhere that the plugin manager is not compatible with x-tended, since it has its own EMP etc, unfortunatly i only discovered this after i installed the plugin manager and enabled it.

Now i am afraid to keep playing to only learn after several more hours that extened is broken.

please help.

The plugin manager wont install its own EMP file if the active mod already has it included.

it may create its own wares files to add in custom wares, but this would be based of the active mod as well

Thanks cycrow.

the reason i am asking. i have a clean install of x-tended and have been playing for about 40 hours real time. Installed the plugin manager, activated mod mode and noticed that the EMP became enabled (as it comes with the manager). I then reverted back to vanilla mode and uninstalled the manager.

When my universe traders now looks for wares, i sometimes see strange ware names in the search list. that was why i was wondering if the plugin manager might have done something.

The wares are kalled ZA_EMP_BLANK_WARES or something like that

Plugin Manager 1.47 - Opening Error

Post by pagulhan »

Everytime I try to install .spk packages using PM, I get an error message:

Error Opening:
[path to the script I try to install]
Unknown error

I had to use the reg file to install PM properly. TC v. 3.2. What's weird, there's no problem to install archives. What do I do wrong? I remember a few years back I used to use PM too without any problems. Any ideas?

sounds like theres a problem opening the spk files.

have you made sure you are using the latest version, Plugin Manager Lite 1.47?

it may be that the spk files you have, have been corrupted in some way so they are not installing.

Has the plugin manager installed any of the core libraries ?
several are included so these should be installed once you active modified mod

Yes, I downloaded it from here.

How can it be? I got them from this forum. I don't edit or make any changes to them. I just click "install package" and then get an error message.

What are 'core librairies'? Already installed scripts I can see when I use the PM for the first time? Yup.

To be honest, I COULD just pack all the .spk files I download (as I mentioned above) and then install the archives but it's a little bit... uncomfortable and requires more time than manual installation.[/quote]

im not sure how they get corrupt, but i have seen it happen before when some browsers dont seem to download spk files correctly and they end up not readable.

you could try another browser and see if that makes a difference.

you could also try opening them in either the Creator or the Spk Explorer and see if any of those are able to load them.

as you have the core libraries installed, this would suggest the Plugin Manager is able to install spk files (as these are just spk files that are installed automatically)

I tried another browser, another computer and another version of the game (steam this time).

The same error. Do you think it's about the reg file I had to use to install scorpio's map?

When I try to open .spk with SPK Explorer, this message appears:
Invalid package file:
[path to the file]

Doesn't appear to be a valid package
So it MAY look like the .spk gets corrupted...
... but it doesn't explain why I can still install the .spk (that's showing it's invalid) if I simply make an archive and use "install archive" option (no invalid .spk message now).

when you say make an archive, do you mean simply putting the spk file into a zip file ?

if so, its probably installing the file into the game as a custom file, and not actually opening it and installing its contents.

it does sound like something on your system isn't playing nice, not sure what. It could be an anti-virus you are using, althou i've never heard of an anti-virus messing with spk files before.

Yes, I used winrar to make an archive.

I thought it's about my computer. The problem is I just got a new one with fresh, shiny windows7 and still - the same error. I install the .spk immediately the download is completed and that's why I wouldn't say it's about anti-virus.

Perhaps I need something else to make PM work? Like, I don't know, .Net framework? Something else? I installed all the additional files (like Microsoft Visual) while installing PM.

edit. Is there any way to download the previous versions of PM? I remember back in 2011 I used PM and it worked fine.

edit2. Ok, I'm done. I just re-installed PM once again and now I cannot even install the archives. Well. I think I just wait for another version of PM. btw is there any other way to install .spk files? Without PM?

edit3. It works but you won't believe me... how.
Error appears when I simply double-click the .spk file or use the istall package option.
The same as I try to install archives.

It works when I combine the 2 steps. First, I download .spk file. Then I click right mouse button on it, I select "add to [.spk file name.rar]". Next I open the just-made archive, I double-click on the compressed file and it works!

You know, I know nothing about computers but hey, I'd never say I can fix anything using winrar.

"This package file was created by a newer version"

Post by Vince1987 »

Hi,

First: Thanks for making this game awesome.

Second: I'm sorry if I didn't post this in the proper thread... I'm new here.

Third: When I try to install the cheat package, it says "this package file was created by a newer version" and doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling the plugin manager and reinstalling it, but to no avail.

I have downloaded Cycrow's latest plugin manager here: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=265915

I have downloaded Cycrow AP compatible cheat package here:
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... gin+manage

My game is up to date, I've purchased it on steam.

The TC compatible version of the cheat package works though! But the AP version is apparently "too recent".

Any help would be much appreciated :)

first check the about box of the plugin manager to make sure it is the latest version.

have you previous had a version of the plugin manager installed ?
its possible that some of the dlls didn't get replaced and are using an older version of the library

Plug in installer version 2.12
Package installer version 2.10

I'm using a brand new laptop and its the first time I've ever played x3 on it, so no I've never installed any other versions that the one provided by yourself.

Is there anyway I could install the cheat package manually?

Thanks!

Thats an old version, what you want is the plugin manager lite, 1.47.

Which replaced the original plugin manager.

you can install them manually, but you would need to use one of the spk tools to extract the file first, which you wont be able to do in the old version either.

Greeting.
In my AL settings I have a line "readtext901-107" which is disabled by default. By going through all of the scripts I narrowed down my search to one of 3 script libraries that automatically installed with plugin manager lite 1.47:
-Community plugin configurator
-Hotkey manager
-Ware manager

The reason I belive this is one of those script libraries is that as soon as I switch plugin manager to vanilla (I install most of my scripts/mods manually) the line dissapears. I tried to disable those scripts one by one, but somewhy they automatically get reenabled after game launch, even if I close plugin manager and launch from steam after disabling the script.
Got any ideas how to fix it? Or at least what it does and whether it should be switched on or off? I tried to google for it left and right, but the only solution I found was to disable plugin configurator before game start, but judging by post date and lack of effect on my side I belive that solution was meeant for old plugin configurator.

EDIT:

i found a solution for the APPCRASH (from a user a page or two earlier)^^

i had to delete the pluginmanager folders inside the x3:tc and x3:ap (addon) folder manually.

after a fresh installation of the pluginmanager, everything works fine again :)
