Ok, now I'm getting problems with directory permissions, too. Never had that before.
Background story: had some problems with previous installation (using Win7 64bit home), so I tried to uninstall it -> but I do not have permissions to uninstall that program! 'though I'm admin. Well no problem, deleted the files manually, removed registry entries using Eusing Free RegCleaner (but it keeps visible in the installed software list). Then I installed the latest stable version ... or at least I tried.
While the setup process the installation tells me that:
WTF? Why does it want to write into the heart of Win7? How can I solve that problem? Using different directory does not work since that is done by the installation itselft (but I tried).
Just for the record: of course I do not want to install the tool into windows directory but into a different partition E:\

Hi, its been a while since I played with the manger, is there a way to see the descriptions for all the weapons and missiles in the ship creator? Maybe an older copy that doesn't have a list of 20-25 check boxes with no idea what each is? Maybe a list some where to get to check it, because asking to try and add just one different missile or gun is impossible like this if you don't know the listings.

Go into the settings and make sure you add the game directories, it'll then read the data from the game and display itKRM398 wrote:Hi, its been a while since I played with the manger, is there a way to see the descriptions for all the weapons and missiles in the ship creator? Just a heads up for linux people wanting to or needing to use the plugin manager for adding xsp ships and what not.
You can use wine and get mixed results. Or you can install windows on a virtualbox virtual computer and access your local steam copy of X3 as a network mounted share on the virtual computer. Plugin manager seems perfectly happy with that method ...just dont try to run the game

The save game manager is enabled by default. What I was trying to do is edit a mod but had the wrong program. Got everything sorted and played a few hours. Opened the Plugin Manager to compile a mod and it nuked the vanilla saves with the old copies. I tried both sets of saves it creates in the TC folder but they are identical to each other. Not a tremendous loss as its only a few hours lost progress but enough to be more than slightly annoying.Figge04 wrote:Do this place my saves games somewhere else? or backup of the orginal save games? cause I think I lost mine,
I've installed spk's with the manager and then I closed the manager down, and played the game without opening the manager, and then I tried using the manager again, where I startede the game with the mananager, and all my save games seems to have revertede back to when I used the manager to start the game, I can't seem to figure out where it placed the orginal save games
Im playing albion prelude with xrm + no steam .exe
Moral of the story is be careful with the built in save manager.

There is a beta update for PM which may help with merging .xsp's with XRM. Whether or not the update works, the problem (and several solutions) are discussed in that thread.

Unknown error simply means it failed but the plugin manager doesn't know why.
This could be a problem when reading or writing the files, i.e. the file handling api is not sending proper error codes, i've had this happening for certain permission settings in windows
Have your tried putting the files locally and seeing if that makes a difference?

You mean like putting them in my x3 addon folder?Cycrow wrote:Have your tried putting the files locally and seeing if that makes a difference?
EDIT: Oh and it also always installs zip files as Downloads instead of the zip file name. Do you think a reinstall would help, would that remove all the mods it's got installed or will it just forget about them?

I have the same problem while trying to install any *xsp: either they are are on my desktop, or in the game folder, or even PM is launched with administrator rights...
But first time after I installed PM it was possible to install ships in the game. But then I reinstalled the game and PM, and now I'm catching these Open Package Errors.
Cycrow, I use ur tools for X3 since 2008, and I'm fond of 'em. But this PM 1.47 doesn't want to cooperate with me at all... =)

I've just done a clean re-install of X3 Reunion and have been trying to get Plugin Manager to function.
So far with no other mods/scripts installed there have been no errors like I experienced before HOWEVER .xsp ships are showing installed/enabled in PIM but NOT showing up in the in-game spawn list regardless of whether the PIM is closed before launching game or not.
Anyone have a solution?
Cycrow wrote:i assume the plugin manager has correctly identified the game as X3: Reunion ?
also check in the game directory to see if the files are getting generated correctly
I'm still having problems, can anyone help?Sniper_Ghost20 wrote:Thanks for the reply.
Yea the Manger has Identified X3 Reunion [fully updated]
There is a 'Plugin Manger' Folder within the game directory which has a 'Saves' folder and PluginManager.dat
One thing i've noticed is that Plugin Manager does NOT show up in the "Select Mod Package' option in the X3 Reunion Launcher is this relevant?
Currently installed in C:\My Games\Egosoft\X3 Reunion
C:\My Games\Egosoft\X Plugin Manager
My Specs are:
Windows 7 x64
Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.33GHz
4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6800
