Well a demo isn't meant to showcase the entire game when doing a benchmark, just a portion of it.ThommoHawk wrote:yeah, the demo benchmark for X3TC was released, and afterwards ego patched the game nearly to death, a large proportion due to memory leak and framerate performance issues, which rendered the demo obsolete as far as a indication as to your PC Performance.
Unlike most companies when EgoSoft gives a release date, they mean it. I don't see the release getting pushed back since the Q4 is probably one of the best times of the year to release a game, after all the last 3 X games arrived in that quarter. Pushing back to Q4 2012 would mean close to 18 months (+/-) for beta testing which would seem a bit excessive. Personally I'd be burnt out if I tested something for that amount of time.Even if the game does come out this year (which I don't think it will) I will probably not play it for a year after release (though I will get the game as soon as released), when all the patches for it have fixed the bugs it is sure to have...
But I do see patching, mainly because it gives the option to add in new things that weren't ready upon release or new content. I'm sure there will be bug fixes as well, in todays market virtually no game is 100% stable upon release.
