What race builds the Nodan?

I've been curious about this ship since the first time I've seen it. It's one of my favorites, aesthetically, but it's a bit of an odd duck. It seems to be a bit of a mashup between the Paranid fluid lines and the Argon's love of wings and wingtip landing gear. Is there an official answer to who manufactures it or at least a best guess?

I buy mine from the ALI Warf in Trinity Sanctum VII. What faction it is I would guess Argon judging from the cockpit interior layout but who knows ALI sells a little bit of everything there.

OK, I suppose the big mystery then is WHO Is the Alliance. I wish the backstories were fleshed out better.

Nope - after the gate shudown the ALI pop up as some kind of non-goverment paranid-origin relief organization that try to help/contact/connect systems left outside of gate network.
They are the mix of explorers/trades/rescue started as Paranid but gradually adding other races personel and equipment.


P.S. Nodan has nothing to Terran, neither X3 nor XR designs - it's mroe like a fusion of Argon and PAranid technology which seems fine with ALI background.

Alliance of Words was founded between Paranids Argons and Borons, after the Paranids managed to send antimatter fuelled message-drohnes at close to light speed to Argon Prime and Kingdoms End.

However, the Nodan's design is reminiscent of X Rebirth's retconned/newer Terran designs, which in particular have these huge angled wings.

If I was to explain it, I would say that it's a joint Argon-Paranid ship bolted together with stolen/remaining Terran technology.

The only thing Nodan has remotely similar to XR design are the wings/fins, but this is not strong enoung to justify any semblance to Terran.

I think it is sufficient to say that the Nodan is a collaborative design - it's general design philosophy seems to be akin to that of Goner vessels though thus I can see how some may consider it to be of Goner origin. The ALI may be hosted/aligned with the PAR but their general philosophy seems to be more peaceful in nature.

Nodan kinda looks like something that would be the fusion of Argon and Paranid tech.
I don't see anything directly Terran here, but considering that X4 Argon are looking terran'ish it might be kinda confusing.

I wonder what would be Egosoft approach to Terran designs in X4. Guess we will find out in like 2 or 3 years.

I am inclined to agree with mr.WHO on this point - there is nothing about the Nodan designs that really indicate a direct linkage with Terran origins.

It would not be unexpected though for the Argons or Paranid to be using at least some Terran technology in their designs though given the events of X3:TC/X3:AP.

The name of the ship seems to be tied to a type of Karate which despite the names of some Terran ship models (named after Japanese swords) does not give a solid indication of direct Terran origins either.

Overall though, what does it matter whether Terran technology is used on the Nodan or not? - it is not likely to change much.

It's my favorite ship and I don't care, maybe the expansion will bring us better (Split) ships
