Classic Strange Encounters (The ORIGINAL FPics)

Back in yee oldie days on a forum that is long since passed into myth and legend people did complain about posting Pics, to which the (FPIC) meaning Funny Pic stamp was created to 'stem the whinning'

anyway here are the complete list that I made and could actually find (many are gone to the void over the years).

Strange Encounter - Ringo Moon

Space is vast, sure.

It's pretty darn quiet too but sometimes you just know that things are not quite right.
Take yesterday a day like any other, i.e. a never ending day in Ringo Moon thanks to its four suns.
I noticed a pair of ships moving through system, at first I thought nothing of it but something told me they were carrying contraband…

I couldn't put my finger on it, I suppose it's just a Policeman's Hunch…

Strange Encounter - Hatikvah's Faith

After seizing over 30 tons of spaceweed from hippies in Ringo Moon, I travelled to Hatikvak's Faith before realising I had not disposed of this contraband, I considered selling these goods on to the nearest Pirate base but then I would only be re-injecting this material into the system so I reluctantly decided to burn it in the hold.

Unfortunately the rate at which the flames consumed the weed was not 100% countered by the air filtration systems and some did filter into the life support systems, but fortunately no ill effect was suffered.

However 20 minutes later this act appeared to have attracted the attention of a Giant Cosmic snowman who I done battle with for 2 hours before being forced to disengage due to a overwhelming need to eat chocolate

Many of you may have been wondering what the UFO in X-Tension is and who the hell the people with the Green handle (Little Green Men) are who occasionally post very informative messages on this forum.
I believe I have found the link and the answer to this great mystery…..

Strange Encounter - Don't Know where !?

Exploring the Galaxy can be fun for real, but it is always good to invest in a good quality Tactical Navigation System, I however acquired mine from a shady looking Teladi (BIG MISTAKE).

I knew the Teladi were unscrupulous creatures but even I was suckered into buying a Beta release of the Teladi Tactical Navigation System, infact I’m not wholly convinced it was even a Beta.

Either way I found myself very lost , very confused and very surrounded by a Spli Armada of Capitol Ships, and they were none too pleased to see me..

I knew I should have turned East !!

Strange Encounter - Split Fire

Bored of the usual supervising the production heart of my empire I decided to go on holiday, this time I wouldn't mess about with Split or Argon space, I knew exactly where I was going, Split Fire via Priests Pity.

This is my personal favourite camping spot, it has a fantastic backdrop and asteroids which allegedly contain the mysterious Spacefly.

I've never seen Spaceflies until now, their brightly coloured dance from one asteroid to another was hypnotising, and the oddest thing of all I could actually hear what sounded like a gentle humming from the beat of there wings, this was puzzling as sound can't travel through space, but watching these delicate little creature going about there business made me want to joint them in there jolly little dance, at first they seemed obliging enough but there was one fundamental flaw in my idea of joining there formation….

When buying a Fighter or Transport I would highly recommend not buying second hand, I saw a bargain Argon Buster for sale, it had 12987 previous owners, I overlooked this fact because the ship looked in prime condition like she had never flown before.

All I could think was that she must of had the 12987 most careful ship owners in the galaxy, I checked her over and there wasn’t a single gripe I could have, she was perfect.

I quickly became attached to this walrus of a ship, it grew on me, and eventually it took over my very being, I know I am guilty of many terrible crimes against the split for which I cannot begin to put right (nor would I try) but I was never guilty of any crimes against the Split, even when I single handedly captured 6 fully functioning Mambas and sold their crews to slavery not before destroying at least thirty others along with a M2, I was NOT in control…

You Must Believe me....

Strange Encounter - Siezewell

Sickened, I was visiting Siezewell trading station buying this months issue of 'BIG Profits & Rip Offs' I had only days earlier invested in a Teladi Ship Alarm system.

On my return I was shocked to find my pride and joy violated, the thieving *&%^% had taken my sterio, Tactical Nav system, Docking Computer in-fact everything they even took my furry dice

The only thing they didn't bother stealing was that useless Teladi Ship Alarm System…..

The Teladi and Argon finally managed to get my Jump Drive back online, this time it WORKED!!

Home at last, The stories I have to tell the people I left behind, the alien races,,, they just ain’t going to believe what I have seen and done….

The Blue plasma of the warp rift engulfed my now refitted Experimental Shuttle craft, the gravitational eddies tore at the hull, the shields buckled momentarily then the blue plasma dissipated and the glorious familiar sight of the warp vortex hurtled by, the diplomats commented that they never tier of seeing the tunnel through jumpspace, and began reminiscing the very 1st times they had ever seen this sight, but no sooner had we entered jumpspace than we exited just as abruptly, before me lay the object of so many dreams and hopes, EARTH !

Only thing is everyone else seemed to get back the same time,, now I have to wait for customs to clear me

No one would have believed in the closing years of the 32nd century that Split affairs were being watched across the endless gulf of space much like a scientist studies bacteria that swarm and multiply in a drop of water, few minds ever consider that there could be a true megalomaniac out there, and yet from the depths of hyperspace a battleship immeasurably more powerful that theirs came closer to its quarry.
Noodlewaker the Split astronomer assured the gathered delegates that no such ship could exist and yet, across the ethereal plane that is hyperspace it came…

The HMS Direavis entered Family Pride, a lone M1 opposed her,,,, momentarily, the defenders launched wave after wave of Mamba attack craft and wave after wave was cut down by searing plasma death.

2 Hours later all that remained of the split home system was burning gas and wreckage.

THE EMPEROR IS BACK !!!

The Argon and Teladi finally managed to get my Experimental Shuttle operational again, it took nearly 3 years but if all goes according to plan I should be smelling Earth Air in less than a week.

The day of the launch came, through excitement I suppose I miss judged the Shift-H calibration, the computer screeched out ‘ALERT SINGULARITY JUMP DRIVE CONTAINMENT FLUCTUATING’ I reached for the emergency hyper-space switch but before I reached it I had veered off the Hyper-space tunnel and dropped into what appeared to be normal space.

After a few moments assessing the fault which I couldn’t isolate, and trying to figure out where the hell I was. I noticed a distant light, closer than a star but not like that of a ship,,

The light grew in luminescence until it erupted into a swirling super storm of cosmic energies, the rift in space seemed a almost hypnotising sight, after a moment a large mothership like craft began to emerge,

My 1st instinct was to hail the incoming craft ‘Unknown Craft, this is HMS Vanguard of the Avis Imperial Navy, we are in need of assistance can you comply?’

The com channel hissed with static, but no reply, I watched as a swarm of smaller craft emerged from the mothership and headed straight for me, I was about to turn and run when my ships computer announced ‘THARGOID.. Target is now THARGOID MOTHERSHIP’

ARRGGGGHH !!! where’s my Cobra Mk3 and Military Lasers !?

Passing through Teladi space I noticed a new buisness had set up, 'BNJ Industries' or something like that, they were offering in conjunction with The Cartel customized fighter craft, but as the 1st lucky (or unlucky) customer discovered ANY Modifications are striktly unsanctioned by the powers at be.

This is why I DO NOT fly split mambas,, it's something I suspected for quite a while and when i finaly saw this advert I thought,,

Strange Encounter - Lave

Wondering around the Imperial Trotter mobile, I had a 100 grand riding on the quick delivery of fresh noodlewakers.
After several attempted ignitions of the jump drive I gave up, fearing that my go-faster drive was paggered, I thought I'd attempt to repair the faulty drive unit myself.

Unfortunately my wrist watch fell into the central flux chamber, the super intense energy vortexes that inhabit this chamber I thought would simply disintegrate the wrist watch,,

On Returning to the bridge I was delighted to discover the pilot light was on suggesting the Jump drive was fully operational and primed, naturally I engaged the drive,, only to find myself emerge not in Kingdom End,, but somewhere called Lave..

Pretty primitive place, but something seems familiar…
