Why exactly do we need this modified logo thing?
Just curious what the logic was behind including it?
Is it a reminder that I'm running a modified game?
I assure you, I'm well aware of it . . . (took me long enough to get it that way)
At any rate, if it is necessary to have it always visible? If I really need to be told my game is modified, could it be done in a menu somewhere so I don't have to stare at it all the time?
Kind of annoying if you ask me . . .

It's visually impairing my imersion(sp) into the game......it constantly distracts me and I see no point to it other than it being an annoyance.

Ok, so I read in the main forum that the purpose was so that egosoft doesn't have to support technical issues caused by scripting/mods. The tag makes it immediately identifiable in a screenshot that the game has been modded.
Makes sense, seems reasonable.
Could it be adjusted so that the modified tag only comes up when taking a screenshot?
For that matter, seems like if I really wanted to get around it (not that I would) would be easy enough to graphically edit it out. I dunno, maybe not.

Some have said that they have the Modified tag in game from starting the script editor with no user scripts installed.

Well there you go...so the only way to be sure of not getting it is to start a fresh game losing 100's of hours gameplay just to get rid of the tag
i'll be removing and reinstalling 1.2 then.

I can't script...no script documents yet....If I could script and i knew how to remove the tag I'd have been on it already.bryant wrote:I know why dont you write a script that kills the message, I mean if your modding anyway, whats one more mod.

You have no idea how frigging SIMPLE it is to do that. Pretty much EVERY screencapture program out there uses this method. You don't see Hypersnap putting the words "Hypersnap demo version" all over your screen every second it's running, do you? Nope, take a picture, the words are overlayed into the screenshot. Microsoft Paint could probably even do it.Burianek wrote: Could it be adjusted so that the modified tag only comes up when taking a screenshot?
not.
Having the word in the corner is BS.

I have faith that they'll rework/rethink this. It's not like they're out to get us or anything. I'm sure it was just a quick decision that wasn't properly thought through. I can hardly fault them for scrambling and goofing up a bit every now and then at the rate they've been turning out improvements. I'd also be willing to bet whoever made the decision is a bit surprised we're all so upset.
Here are a few things no one will disagree with:
It's not really a bad thing to mark a game as modified.
It's just how it's marked that's the issue.
There are better ways of accomplishing the exact same objective that egosoft wanted to achieve which will be unobtrusive and inoffensive.
With the amount of posts / flames on this topic, I'm sure egosoft is aware of the issue.
We'll all have to wait a bit for it to be resolved.
I suppose I can live with that.

thanks all
purely on the strength of this topic, I'm gonna hold off installing 1.3
the whole point of including the script editor was so we can get more involved in the game - if that's going to result in the game becoming less enjoyable then what's the point meant to be now?

For the benefit of folk I've uploaded a screenshot of it in action:

I've also uploaded one for folk who are using unmodified games:

I just couldn't help making that last one

hehehehe
ok, it's not quite as bad as it's painted (sic), but it's still bloody pointless really
if I have a technical problem with my game, it's hardly likely that a screenshot will help them solve the problem any easier anyway - unless you can see my processor type or hardware configuration embeded elsewhere in the image?
