New beta broke the Package Creator?

Post by DrBullwinkle »

Report: I just downloaded the beta 7, and noticed that I cannot open any of my .XSP files with the Package Creator. I get an Unhandled exception:

InvalidArgument=Value of '3' is not valid for 'index'
Parameter name:index

The same XSP's opened in the previous version of the Creator.

(By the way, I am a huge fan of your work! You make X3 playable, and that's awesome because X3 is awesome -- except for some of the things that you fixed.) :)

Yes, beta 8 seems to have fixed the Creator.

Thank you.

However, now I get an Unhandled exception report from Microsoft .NET Framework when I try to run the plugin manager: :(

"DragDrop registration did not succeed"

I wish this board allowed image uploading (*sigh*)...

Yes, both the plugin manager and the creator seem to work now.

Why are there two current threads for this one program? :o

No offense, but could you PLEASE update your website.

You have the only 2.12 version up there that required the exe to be named X2.exe.

Hello guys im usint the stable version 1.30 and the last version of x3TC. But im having this little problem. When im using the vanilla version of the game everything goes smoothly at around 150 fps. When i activate the modified with the plugin manager i have little lags every few seconds or so. like fps drops from 150 to 130-120, like everything blocks for a fraction of second (mouse cursor everything) little lags . Its this how its sopposed to be for the modified version ?.

It depends on which script(s) you are running. The plugin manager itself should not cause any problems.

Some scripts have inefficiencies. If that is discussed anywhere on this board, then I have yet to find it.

For example, I was having a *huge* lag problem... game freezing for longer than it ran. I looked at the global scripts running, and turned them off one by one. Ironically, the culprit script was the Egosoft Bonus Pack Missile Defense Mosquito!

I turned off MDM, and the game went back to running smoothly.

A minor bug in a script could also cause similar behavior.

So my advice is to turn off one script at a time until you find which script is causing the lag.

if you install the latest beta, 1.40 beta 13, that should solve the problem

yea im using the last beta now i dont have that lag anymore. However a question .. Is it possible that the scripts of the Cheat package may alter the game performance in anyway ?? ..I started the terran campain and i had like 150-180 in the first sector.. After 2-3 hours after used the cheat too and added an echanced chimera, some lasers and ammunition the fps dropped at 90-100 ... I cant tell for sure that the fps dropped immediatly after i used the cheat .. but something happened in those few hours of gameplay.

it shouldn't really maybe any difference.

as the cheats are just spawning the ships then not doing anything after that

Also, the game does tend to slow down over time (usually more than a few hours), and some sectors or situations are more "busy" than others.

How are you measuring fps? If you really get 120 fps then you should not be able to detect the lags, so perhaps the measurement is only measuring over a very short period of time.

And... I just have to ask: Why do you care about fps ratings over about 30 or so? Much above 30 and the actual game performance difference becomes small.

Hi all, I am trying to uninstall the X Plug In Manager but it gives me an error, "uninstall.exe" cannot be found by Windows. Additionally, when I try the Add and Remove Programs route, I receive a dialog telling me that I do not have sufficient access to remove. Help?

hmm i think its definitly one of those scripts..

I quited the game (with 60-100 fps from 150-180 after using the cheats/scripts)
I unnistalled the cheat package ( the only script i installed)
In the scripts an t folder i still had some strange scripts and i deleted them some examples: al.gamedata.main.xml, al.plugin.gui.xml, lib.cycrow.keepstock.add, plugin.config.addcycle , x2script.xsl and so many more .. I delefed all the files taht finished with .xml bcz they didnt were there on the original install i think..

After all this i returned in game and my frame rate returned to 150-180.. so i think it was one of those scripts that lowered my framerate at half ( from 150-180 at 60-90) maybe they enter in some strange loop and screw the game i dunno :D

lib.cycrow.keepstock... is a global script that keeps items in stock at stations, such as the Advanced Thruster. It does burn a few cycles, but not nearly as bad as Missile Defense Mosquito.

Again, your fps measurements may not be correct, because you should not be able to tell the difference between 60 and 150 fps -- both are faster than your eye. If you can tell the difference, then your real fps is probably much lower than your measurements.

(By the way, whatever you use to measure fps takes away from your game's performance. Hopefully not by a noticeable amount.)

When you measure, do you always measure in the same sector, under the same conditions (combat, number of active NPCs, etc)? Those things make a very large difference in performance -- much more than most of the Cheat Package.

Heya

Anyone getting the new version of "Plugin Manager" to work with Albion Prelude ?
For some reason it only find X3TC and not X3AP.
