XR capships are OP (plasma JET turrets on Fulmekron could wipe dozens of fighters in seconds), but X4 are too weak.

Those torpedo drones were great for destroying turrets groups in the capital ships.

i guess I'm mystified by what people expect a "cap" ship to do in this game that a carrier isn't already doing.
or do people just want to sail the stars in a giant un-killable do-whatever-it-wants battleship? I'm sure you could just mod one in....
Battleships don't really exist in real life anymore for a very specific reason, because they would actually get the shit kicked out of them. That's why we have carriers, subs, destroyers, frigates, cruisers, and all the other naval ships in the different militarizes around the world. But no one is sailing around in battleships... because they suck(except in that one movie).
Are we talking like a star wars dreadnought type ship? Exactly what happened to that ship should happen to a similar ship in this game. It should get the shit kicked out of it by small fighters and scouts, but it's really good against other large ships. Though if they put something like a dreadnought in, it would be super easy to just wreck it unless you surround it like you would a carrier. With an aux ship, a few destroyers, and a slew of small and medium fighters.
Personally, I'd rather seem them add more corvette type ships, medium fighters like the Nemesis, and then also 1 step up from the nemesis. Something between the medium nemesis and large destroyer.

Yes, it's more like the Star-wars ship, or like an actual battleship from when they were still used on each other and fixed installations. The real life factors that made them irrelevant don't exist in games like this anyway, kinda like how fighters are still flying around in each others' faces firing guns instead of using missiles from beyond visual range.grapedog wrote: ↑Wed, 11. Also for purely practical reasons it's nice to have large ships like that to cut down on micromanagement and game performance issues when you want a lot of firepower IMO.

They are well aware about the feedback of their cap-ship design
. Poorly they answered already, they don't have the resources for revamp. Some might get light modif but no remake.

Am I the only one, who thinks, that current cargo capships are bad, too?
I think all container L ships should get their hold multiplied by 4 (and Station S&M Container modules) to be at least somewhat competitive.
a M cargo ship cost close to nothing (in comparison), is much faster, more flexible and carries up to half of the smallest L ship.

Capships are fine for their cost. You pay about 8x the price of a fighter, and get something that's about 8x as strong as a fighter.
I'd rather see the current destroyers renamed to Frigates, and current Frigates renamed to something else.
I think the whole issue is down to the name.

a fully equipped destroyer has roughly 2.5 the price of a fully equipped frigate class ship. A destroyer can solo 4+ M class ships...Tya wrote: ↑Thu, 12. Destroyer is the right name. “Fast, maneuverable, long-endurance warship intended to escort larger vessels in a fleet, convoy or battle group and defend them against powerful short range attackers”. So its role is to serve as a medium class escort for carriers, (non-existent) cruisers and battleships. They just need to add those big ships.Tya wrote: ↑Thu, 12.
