The bottom line, I'm afraid to say, is that Achievements are Steam-only. If you can't or won't use Steam on your XP and it won't work in Ubuntu (WINE) then you have very limited options.
It's up to you to decide whether the value the Achievements adds to your gameplay is enough to justify putting steam on your XP set-up.
As I understand it, the achievements have been added thru steam, since steam already has the facility for player achievements so it was easy to add to the game. To add it to the game without using the pre existing Steam facilities would be more work and obviously wasn't at the top of any priority list for Egosoft.
If you are interested, there's nothing stopping you setting up said poll... (unless a mod disagrees )

As per Carlos the Curios f.a.q. for Steam ready for DVD registration numbers, downloaded Steam, registered my DVD and it download XTC with no problems.

Well, X3 does have a form of achievements already in place. It's called, Player Rankings. However, it's broken currently, because of the forum problems that are going on. I guess, when the metals that appear under our user names comes back, it will be working again. http://www.egosoft.com/games/x3tc/statistics_en.php
Besides, there is no reason to be crying over not being able to unlock the Steam Achievements, when you don't even use Steam. It's like crying over the cost of Diesel, when you buy Unleaded.

No, I do have virus before, but never open like enlarge penis, if I see that, I just deleate, it's more like "open job, looking for job, ect that may got me a virus.

lol, that part about job emails giving viruses has made my day. Thanks for the laugh. Whether it is true or not, it's funny. It sounds almost like an excuse not to find/accept work. I'll have to remember that one the next time I get a job offer I want to pass on.
Heading way off topic (but I suspect this thread is about to disappear into the depths anyway) but I get quite a lot of dodgy emails offering work. I don't know whether they're scams/phishing or what, since I don't open them, but it definitely happens!

Yes you're probably right. I hate to have contributed to such deliquency. I was following this thread because I'd like to know when 2.6 gets here. Those silly achievements will encourage me to buy TC.

lol, thanks guys; I noticed right after I posted that 2.6 is here. I edited the post to reflect my discovery from looking at the stickies and your replies. Does anyone know what the best medium for buying an egosoft product (for their -ego's- pockets) is? The 24 hour mark went unoticed for me becuase I failed to refresh my tab that I've had open on my laptop since I posted. I gave up on the slow forum response earlier today/yesterdayish. Even if my original reply was after the fact silly me was growing a little impatient with the forums slow response times.
