Hopefully it's an X4 or a space based game.

With Planetary /Moon landing/exploration being possible and maybe the ability to construct Planetary bases etc.

I can but dream.

They have lost the race to mmo imo there is Eve Online, Star Trek Online, Black Prophecy, Jump Gate Evolution. Etc.

Couldnt really compete as the games in one aspect or another has all what x has and more. Especially black prophecy as its the same gameplay as x, freespace2, freelancer.

Plus i dont think its a mmo.

Bernd made it very clear over a year ago that its going to be a space game, more he even said its going to be THE space game.

Well of course while under raps nothing explicit was said but to paraphrase a management contribution in the News Letter, that TNBT was not an X3 extension, or even an X4 or X5 game. Then there have been in the last month posts on this forum with links to internet sites advertising discusting video as to what TNBT is, which no one bothered to refute. You really cannot blame fans for wondering is this an early April Fool or were Egosoft really softening us up for Bad News?

Well whatever the TNBT is, it should be good! Its hard to wait for so long!

On my side, the TNBT site (its current name for the time being) will be ready as soon as the game gets announced. News system, picture uploading, video pages and links pages are ready now (they just disabled for now). A few days ago I moved the internals around to support a new game.

Since this will be only a announcement, im guessing the final game will be awhile away - end of the year or more?

It's just what happens lately to PC game developers that I like. They make some great single player games, but don't get the recognition they deserve, then realize that the real money is with MMOs or console gaming. Radon Labs, Katauri Interactive,... Egosoft?

Well, Bernd has previously stated agreement with the console part, but I doubt (and hope) not MMO...

Seconded on the MMO part. Here's what I think of MMOs:

MMOs are only fun if you can keep the n00b-pwners and l33t-skill-braggers (read: assholes) out. (Not to mention the time-wasting idiots who use a video game as a chatroom, like what RuneScape has become. That's what e-mail, texting, instant messaging and the goddamn telephone are for.)

Include a way to report and ban trolls, n00b-pwners, braggarts, and other such wastes of organic matter, and it's a solid plan. However, since political correctness and Terms of Use policies typically don't allow for people to be blocked from a game just for being jerks, an X-universe MMO is an inherently bad idea for the serious gamers who are in it for enjoyment and don't mind giving newbies a leg up, rather than sniping them just to watch their heads explode. An MMO would poison the great community of X-gamers that is this forum.

Co-op and/or competitive multiplayer, sure, as long as you include LAN compatibility. Blizzard caught a lot of flak for leaving that out of StarCraft II multiplayer; gamers have to log on to Battle.net to play against somebody sitting at the same table, whereas in original StarCraft you can use UDP or TCP/IP for multiplayer games.
