Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that US Marines were also on "high alert" to deploy – which would mark a rare use of the active duty military on US soil.

It should probably be mentioned that Trump has authorized Hegseth to deploy all branches of the US military to LA as he sees fit.

According to different reports 500 active duty US marines are now ready for deployment as soon as the order is given. Will be interesting/terrifying to see how this plays out.

Well, that escalated quickly ... apparently police now fired on a journalist doing a live report. If you watch the video you can see the police officer suddenly raising his weapon without any apparent reason and firing at her. Fortunately, she was not badly hurt, unlike a british reporter who was also shot while reporting and had to be taken (by protesters!!!) to the hospital to remove the three-inch plastic bullet (WTF???) sticking through his leg. He was wearing a press pass and carrying a camera.
And as far as I can tell those were police, not even national guard or marines.

If you watch footages you'll see plenty of journalist mixing into the crowd without a shred of self-concern for their own safety - press shirt (even worse the lack of it) doesn't make you bulletproof and magically dodge bullets.
I might be oldschool, but in the past journalist at least tried not to "take a best shot" from the middle of potential crossfire - hot zone reporting has a lot of safety hazards and should be done by professionals - these people are definetly not.

Donald Trump warns that ANY protests at his birthday parade, will be met with "heavy force". Interesting is that he is not talking about violent protests/riots, but protests in general. To quote him directly:
