I don't monitor these things constantly, but i have never seen it go beyond 8 i think.
If it ever went past 10 i'd suspect it's a memory leak tbh.

Awesome gate defence dude!! Well, it would be if the turrets could be switched to offensive rather than being permanently in defensive mode. Nicely done though!!

Thanks!

Those gorgons and the couple LTs around help with that.

But yeah even if they aren't offensive they should return fire at least when they take damage from a hostile ship's turret..

Man i almost caught an I, but the game died on me :(
Though i try the save reload trick to make the sound issue go away but can't get it to work..

Will kill those HOP stations i think when i can play again, and give back faulty logic to the xenon.
At least my claytronics/hull part sales will skyrocket again :D

Interesting but how do you build so close to a gate? I can't buy plots right next to a gate in vanilla...

That's why i included the first screenshot - picked minimal plot size, and could even place it between the gate and the highways.
once the plot is down i just rotated and resized it, then paid the price and was ready to start the build.
It's all vanilla. You can place any plots which don't cut into the already existing ones.

Unless you know... What is the average air speed velocity of a laden swallow?

Teladi or Paranid? Wait, not, that's not it...
Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.

Some people never develop beyond this stage.

Then all you hear is the awful, vacuum-penetrating sound of a thousand turrets locking onto you from every direction...

Anyone tried this with gates on highways? how does it fair with M and S ships as they go through the gates due to the speed they are travelling ?

Guess if they get hit then they would return for some action.
My plan was to build another instance at the gate from AP, hope 2.2 gets released at some point then i can try it. Could work as ships slow down on entry/leave at gates.
Remember reading about a mod that makes def platforms aggressive - if i can't find it i'll make it so.

How are turret commands in 3.0?

Would the station turrets fire as soon a ship belonging to a specific faction gets in range?
Does that faction need to be hostile?

Well I tend to do the same but cheaper, I first accept a build station mission close to the gate plan the mission requierements + "the little extra" (typically a shipyard for reinforcements + a massis turret system like this) provide the matirials for the mission part, and RENT a CV.
I have an initial investment of ~4mil Cr
I get about 6-16mil Cr missionreward
I sell about 200mil Cr buildingmaterials to the NPC's
I have 0 upkeep and repair costs.

Who needs money? :D
I want a nice laser show, my only concern is fps tbh.

Also i would be careful building something like this for NPC factions. A stray shot later will have lethal consequences IS.

But let me repeat the question, because if this works ill have a look at it during a later beta:

Would the station turrets fire at hostiles without any of my assets being attacked?
