[Help] Is there an EVE Online mod for X3:TC ?

Hey people,
is there any kind of mod that ads the ships from EVE online into X3: Terran Conflict?

I assume you did read carefully the [url=http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=216690]TC Download Library[/url], and after finding nothing "Eve" there, noticed a link to a "wishlist", saw Eve ships asked for in that list without any response, found no "here is Eve mod" thread posted within last week (ie after that wishlist was created), and therefore chose to ask in a new thread? :roll:

I assume I already saw an topic refering about EVE online ships (I think that was last year), but I can't find it anywhere. :wink:

Doubt it would happen as CCP would jump right down our throats over it.
It is possible to rip the ships out of Eve with a tool thats available on their forums. http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.as ... dID=269677
I have a couple of Gallente ships but theres no way am I going to release them to anyone.

Technically possible, but you never create ship mods like that unless EULA permits it. CCP's obviously does not.

So the adding new ships part is covered. What about a mod that introduces ship fitting and items like in EVE but with existing X3 ships?

I have managed to get some EVE sips working ingame, although my methods are rather rudimentary, and I cannot for the life of me get the bump, spec, bump_low to work as they are meant to. (meaning a rather basic and low quality texture set.) to sum it all up, easy to get the models ingame, hard to get them ingame PROPERLY.

Would be nice to play eve ships as they are miles better lookin than x games ships at least to me they look like proper space ships not the daft designs x3 and x3tc seem to have.

Try flipping the UV coords as is mentioned in the thread on the Eve Online Forums.

Only issue I would have would be the Capitol Ships. Hell they are way bigger than the Super Star Destroyer that was made for X3 Reunion. Where the heck could you dock something so large?

Actually, CCP encourage mods and things involving Eve as long as it's your own stuff, they won't let you "rip" their models or texture though. I know this as there was an Eve mod for Homeworld 2 (Ran into problems, as certain good mods do, and progress grinded to a halt).

If there's one ship I'd like a similar version of it's the Brutix from EVE, perhaps ALL Gallente ships ;D

Things dock with IT, not the other way around ;D

It would be interesting indeed. One day perhaps those ships will be added to a library and used in X3...

Actually when i imported eve ships into x3 they were smaller than the x3 ships so i left the frigates fighter size and scaled everything else up 915% so battleships are the size of m1 and m2 class ships. that makes only the mothership and dreadnought class vessels too big to dock...then theres the titan...but that is a different story lol.

Just a question:
how did you got the .gr2-files into gmax or Milkshape? Which 3D-Programm and which plugin I should use, to import the models into gmax?
Especially I want to get the Gallente Hyperion into XTC ^^

Gotta use the tri-exporter. The newest version which I think is 4.0 or 4.1 beta forgot which it is. That will open up the .gr2 files so you can see them and export them to .3ds files for importing else where. Course sometimes the models need to be tweaked, or combined to get the complete model of said ship into 1 file. Tempest and Maelstrom come to mind with that among other ships.

I've exported roughly 20 ships, 10 bases, and all the gates into 3D Max so far fully textured. Takes time to do it, and a bit of harddrive space depending on what program you use for the photo editing to get all the maps, normals, bumps, etc to show up properly.

I've downlaoded the triexporter from http://www.eve-world.de/download.php?view.8
and he always say "WTF?" when I'm trying to open a .gr2 Model. Whats wrong? :(
The only thing, the Triexporter can do is unstuffing the files but anything else.

I think theres an other problem. In the whole "model"-order I can see just one .tri-file (res->model->beacon-Ygallente->gbc1 shape.tri). The Triexporter does not want to open and export the .gr2 files. :gruebel:

If you can't open the latest .gr2 files its an older version. Its on one of the later pages of the thread. Its not the link on the first page.
