Play.com has said the 17th for a few weeks now, as have a few other sites, doesn't mean it is correct. However, it is strange that Amazon.de has 10-10 as the release date, and Amazon.co.uk is 10-17. Maybe it will be released in Germany and on Steam first, then the UK, and then (hopefully) the US.mojo lojo wrote:Hi guys,
Just looked on Play.com for release date for X3TC,

Well what i have read is far from lots, this sort of thing needs to be on one page not spread throughout the forums, could someone be so kind and make a list here? Thanks.X2-Eliah wrote:There is lots, if you know where to look..
Firstoff, your only source of info is Egosoft site (sublinks included).
Read through this whole sticky, and you should know a lot already.
Also, read through the X3TC developer blog (link from sticky top), that is a major source of intel.

There is not much point to do it now. We don't know the details, as the game is not out yet, and thus cannot make the list. And the publisher tells the devs to zip it up. Once the game is released, we probably get a list, and once we have played it a bit (a year or two) then we can fill in the omitted bits. And those will be "spread all over".

Usually lack of info is a bad sign, i would at least expect a decent amount of detailed info within the weeks around release otherwise how will we know what we're buying?
I suspect it will be more of them same though and that's not so good, hope im wrong though, i won't be buying until i know, im not making the same mistake as i did with x3, which only got good after a year and with the help of some of the bigger mods around.

That's not quite fair, X3 was good once they sorted out the release bug, which they did fast.Electro wrote:Usually lack of info is a bad sign, i would at least expect a decent amount of detailed info within the weeks around release otherwise how will we know what we're buying?

I played tree really good games before that final pack came out. I didn't use much of it when it did come out. For one thing I don't use my own trade ships any more, I price my goods so the npc traders do my buying and selling for me.

Don't get me wrong i like the x series and have enjoyed it since the beginning it's just after so long and between x2 and x3 theres been no real leap in improvement, sure lots of scripts and mod ideas enhance whats already there but when it comes to the game itself what more is there to do?mrbadger wrote:That's not quite fair, X3 was good once they sorted out the release bug, which they did fast.

There's only so much repeat trading, fighting and building one can do before you realise its all a bit pointless and theres nothing new or interesting, X3 feels lifeless which was more forgiveable in the past on older hardware, its sorely lacking in depth, atmosphere and interaction with the universe, i just hope to see that change one day.

From the sound of it, much more. Here's some info that is not so easy to find on the Egosoft site (my comments are in parentheses):Electro wrote:Don't get me wrong i like the x series and have enjoyed it since the beginning it's just after so long and between x2 and x3 theres been no real leap in improvement, sure lots of scripts and mod ideas enhance whats already there but when it comes to the game itself what more is there to do?

It is the year 2938. The long wished-for encounter of the X Universe and the Earth holds both joy and sorrow for the people. Despite flourishing trade, the clash of the diverse races, cultures and life forms creates new tensions, mistrust and open conflict that need to be overcome!
Experience the brilliant climax of the legendary X-Trilogy , and take your place in the history of the X Universe.
- Largest X Universe ever
- New faction: the Terrans – inhabitants of the Earth. (with their own economy)
- More jobs and non-linear missions than ever before. (Icons on ships and stations that have jobs/missions available.)
- More than 100 new spaceships, new ship classes and weapon systems.
- Re-designed user interface for comfortable control by mouse, keyboard and joystick.
- New group management tool. (Wings!)
- Large battleships can be boarded by an outside team. (Marines, which can be trained at special facilities.)
- Independent, non-player owned corporations with their own unique ships and stations, offering new friends or foes to the player
So, it will be familiar to X3:Reunion players, probably even more familiar to those with the XTM mod. But it will have features that no mod or script could ever make.

Re: play.com release date
Just have to wait until Friday (3rd oct) now because if on Friday the Steam customers start to download their copies then the game is good to go although to be honest I think if TC was not ready for a 10th October release Egosoft would have been upfront and told us by now because they know we are starting to get excited about the release (well I am) and that it would just be cruel to announce a delay now 10 days before and anyhow they were certainly not slow in telling us it was delayed from Oct 3rd so yeah I think we're cool, time to start cancelling any appointments you might have made for for a week on Fridayem3e3 wrote:Play.com has said the 17th for a few weeks now, as have a few other sites, doesn't mean it is correct. Storming enemy Destroyers
So if we can now send capture squads over to large enemy ships does this mean that each ship has a crew number and how does the fighting work? is it as simple as -Boron ship has 21 crew members your assault team has 18 members therefore you don't have enough people to take it over but as the Boron ship only has 3 crew members left after the assault it is now crippled because it can't operate efficiently anymore?

I bought one in XTM. They are pretty to look at but useless as a ship as it turns out. They are little more then stations you can move (extremely slowly).Cycrow wrote:M0's will be pretty pointless tbhFirelance777 wrote:But will there be M0 class ships?

Since you can train your crews I would expect that it may come down to numbers, modified by the training and experience of your boarding party. Since it could seriously unbalance the game if you could just fly near any M2 and steal it I expect this will be an expensive or tricky move to pull.

They are excellent as a retreat/deploy base in battle with the point to point jumpdrive.mrbadger wrote:I bought one in XTM. They are pretty to look at but useless as a ship as it turns out. And they have enough firepower/shields to hold there own when the ships are docking.
They are a bit the same as modern carriers.
modern carriers never engage directly only under extreme circumstances do they engage directly.

That's not the point. The one you bought in XTM was not M0 in terms of X universe. It was just overgrowth M1/M2. M0 in X universe are planet killers and as such they were not included in XTM as player controlled ships. And like Cycrow wrote if ES would include them they'd have to be planet killers like in the rest of official X lore. And as planets are not really something you can interact with they'd be pointless. That's what he meant.mrbadger wrote:I bought one in XTM. They are pretty to look at but useless as a ship as it turns out.
