I would hope any delay means less bugs. I would imagine biggest ever plot means potentially more game play to test - not really surprising.

I have to say this is slightly annoying, Play.com are usually spot on and do say the 3/10..

I had two weeks off aswell (not because of the game though) and now it looks like its coming out a couple of days before i go back. Dam

Except when they had 26/9, obviously.

Blog's been updated again, giving an explanation of wings and boarding crews. :)

Oh it's by Cycrow!

I'm liking the training you can give your boarding crews. :)

Are the Wing names from the dev blog entry hardcoded, or can we define our own? Is there any limit to how many wings we can have?

"played X3 and X3 already (still playing X3)"?
Sorry, it's a typo.
Should be: "played X2 and X3 already" :)

I never looked into the whole marines thing in XTM but it looks interesting. I'd have thought that yoy must be able to disable the target ships engines otherwise sending marines through space would be rather futile?

Anyway its starting to get me just a little excited about the release which I have been fighting for some time now!

RE; this boarding parties concept, at what point does the target ship stop firing and yet remain red to the players scanners; image, as sending in boarding party to a ship that is still fighting, would be a waste of resources. Unless systems attrition has been introduced for opposition vessels?

Sweet, those newest DEV updates are looking great! Looks like most of my worries about the interface will be solved. Marines and other aspects will add even more depth to the game!

Being as how I am stuck on a Marine Amphib right now, getting to see the Marines do their thing in space will rock!

I just hope that during our next port call I can find an internet cafe and download the THINK/BUILD/whatev trailers and see this game in action. Perhaps a port call after that I can actually buy the game... If it am lucky!

Oh and comments on how apparently all of the collisions have been fixed since I last played, I sure hope they are! Someone mentioned 350m/s, is that more or less a soft limit of the fastest speed the AI can reliably control? Looks like I will just have to build slightly slower, more powerful fleets in the future...

BTW, I assume this game is still single-threaded? Will have to get my desktop past 4GHz when i get back off deployment...

Firstly, I would like to thank Egosoft. Seriously, I can't think of one space game that can even compare to X3, and to think it's going to be better! I've heard the Freespace and Freelancer comments, but I just couldn't get around the fact that your life (in the game) seems to be on rails. Having free roaming battles and then being forced to go to another mission doesn't feel like your free (Freespace). Freelancer is whatever... .. not that engrossing when everyone says the same shit. In X3, some days I feel like trading and other days I feel like fighting, and others I just fly around exploring. Now that's Free-roaming bitches! (J/K It was funny in my head.) Well, now that I've said all the good stuff, now for my complaint! Egosoft, in January we were told to expect a game in the third-quarter. I know the end of the 3rdQt hasn't ended yet, but don't you think we atleast deserve a date at this point?? We have been patient.... and there is only about 20 days left. Not to mention, waiting for news on your news page is like watching hair grow. WHATS GOOD????

Wow. I certainly don't hope thats the only way to deploy boarding parties! That could have been an awesome way to get the TP back into the X series! Imagine a TP taking turret fire ... latching onto a hull plate ... and Engineers cutting their way in. But ... ummm ... that has to be the most thankless job in the X-universe to date.

Commander: "You! ... fly in a unprotected space suit while under turret fire, cut your way in with a plasma torch, and then kill the 200 maniacs on board using the same plasma torch!"

Marine: "Whats my alternative?"

Commander: "We stuff you in the warhead of a missile and fire you at will ..."

Marine: "Ive just converted to Gonerism. SCREW THIS!"

Which makes a great point. The use of trans porter's for military boarding would be the best move, but Im sure the Goner's might have an issue with it.

Guess that's what they mean by, "Marines can either be sent in space suits or using a special type of missile, a boarding pod, capable of carrying marines to the target ship." Of course, I have a feeling that you'll be able to disable a larger ship, and instead of them bailing, you have to use your marines to take over the ship.

No firm dates, but I just found this little tidbit on deepsilver.com, published on 9/2/08:
X³: Terran Conflict is scheduled for release end of September 2008.
Edit:
Just found this release date on a German page on deepsilver.com

Erscheinungsdatum: 26. September 2008
