NEWS: X³: Terran Conflict announced

Exciting news. But the finality of X seems bitter sweet.
The game has been going for what seems like a decade, although seeing some new solar systems after the X series will be kind of nice.

I'm sure this game will build on all the current assets like the past expansions but with a lot of new toys so it will make it fun to play through again.
I wonder if we will get to see anything in space like this...

I believe it is meant to be the end of the current story arc. That says nothing of the end of the X series itself.

After all, it wouldn't be hard to jump forward a bit in time, or introduce a new story that would take several games to explore.

I'm just hoping that in this new X, the job of exploring lasts longer than it has before. Its been a bit silly that all the explorer type has had to do in the last two games is locate a few more sectors that were added, while traveling for most of the time through a structurally familiar map. Even when the sectors were made bigger, and had different station models, you could travel from one end of the X universe to the other and not see anything really surprising. It doesn't take long for 'where's the next gate' to get tedious. There needs to be more to discover, enough that you don't just spend your time barreling through sector after sector.

I'd like to have happen again something which only happened once to me, in X2, and that in the first two days of play. I want to be able to get completely lost and have to spend ages trying to figure out where I am.

great news. i hope the new game will have more success on the market. x3 is one of the most unique games of this decade, and you deserve to be rewarded properly for making it.

I bought all the games of the X series.
But I never made it to the end because the manuals never explained how to build factories and so on.
That was very frustating. Such a good game but the manuals explained only the basics.
I hope with Terran Conflict Egosoft will include a "real" manual.

Lack of detailed documentation and the worse UI in gaming history precluded me from getting into the X3 game as much as I hoped too. So here hoping the UI has been tremendously improved... If so, I will certainly buy... But if it's the same icky UI, then I'll be holding onto my money.

there have been waaaayy worse interfaces. There's just so much to include, that it's obviously difficult to keep it coherent. But it would be wonderful if there were UI improvements.

Next question: will pre-ordering it through sites like Play.com have any impact/influence? Obviously the game is on it's way, but are pre-orders good/bad for Egosoft?

Alright! AND to boot it comes out before my next semester starts.. great timing!

On the MMO: I do play EVE and honestly, id be first, or second in line for a X-Online game, its a heck of alot better than EVE imo.
