I love the sandbox nature of the X-Series. Sadly X - Rebirth Isn't up to the level we all hoped so I've
decided to go back and have another go "or 2 or 3" at X3 Albion Prelude.

I've started up a guide series that will hopefully help new players get started Installing Mods in X3AP
and answer some basic questions that have been asked over.... and over..... and over.. again. :D

This first video covers
1. Intro to X3AP and breif history of the X3 Games. "Important for later videos"
2. Installing Manager Software
3. Installing Ships and Scripts. "Tricks to get the ships to show up if they only show as empty boxes and how to test ships after installing.

The Second video
is all about taking your XSP Ships and editing them to match your game. Fixing the balance problems and getting your ships the way you want. Keep in mind some of the XSP ships are setup for X3 Reunion or X3TC not X3AP. So you will need to change stats.

The third video is all about the different types of Mods, a way of installing larger mods called False Patching and my Recommended Mods that is slowly growing here on the forum.

A great example are ships coming from X3TC. The majority of the larger default game ships made for X3TC will have a very low amount of Hull strength compaired to the same ship in X3AP. The devs decided to buff up the health off all the cap ships. Meaning that modded xsp ships like the Star Trek Galaxy class will have 500k hull instead of 5 million that it should have! Big difference and an easy fix following the above guide in the video.


X3 Albion Prelude is not an easy game to mod. It takes time, effort, and lots of reading.
The more mods you install the more trouble it can be. This guide is to get you started and point you in the right direction.

Now please keep in mind this series is not complete yet. As this is part one of a series.
So not all the links in the video will work, and not everything I reference has a video yet.
But I will be getting these out as quickly as possible and updating this videos links and description. Thanks for your understanding.

Well Known Mods in the Community **Mods I have not personally tested but are well known.**

Terran Conflict plots 2.2a for Albion Prelude 3.1
This mod adds the plots or "story" of X3 Terrain Conflict into X3AP. I'm looking forward to testing this mod as I have yet to finish the TC Main plot-lines.

Pirate Guild 3: Dynamic AI and Guild System
Pirate Guild is an AL plugin giving life to the Pirate Faction, unlocking several new ways to play the game and allowing the player to work with or against the Pirate Guild. It also features an efficient and dynamic faction AI that is able respond to threats and launch raids against specific targets. Pirate Bases will now be able to take defensive actions, like buying laser-towers and M6 to protect themselves, or offensive actions like the raid of transport ships, sector invasions, destruction of military assets, and much more. They are also able to target the faction who dealt the most damages to them. The plugin also features a custom communication system allowing the player to talk to PG ships and stations, a news system to keep you posted with the latest pirate related events and various dynamic missions.

The X3ap Battlestar Galactica mod is a semi-total conversion mod. Although most elements within the xuniverse stay the same, this mod adds in a Battlestar Galactica start, along with all the ships, stations and weapons you would find in the BSG universe. A variety of other unique elements await your discovery.

The X3 Rebalance Mod (XRM) is a total conversion mod of X3 Terran Conflict. It rebalances nearly all aspects of the game including ships, weapons, graphics, sounds and the universe itself, as well as adding a huge amount of new content. It has been designed with performance and playability in mind and has many exclusive features not available in other mods or scripts.
NOTE - XRM REQUIRES A GAME RESTART

STAR TREK SHIPS FROM MY LETSPLAY *thats on the way*

Do to most of the Star Trek Ships made by the super talented magrathean monkey being made for X3 Reunion and X3TC they are sadly unbalanced for play in X3AP. So I went in to each ship I could get to work properly and changed weapon/hull stats to be more inline with comparable ships already in the game.

Install Instructions

1. Download the Zip File Here http://adf.ly/cFbp2
2. Use Winzip/Winrar/7 zip to extract the XSP files into a folder.
3. Download and install the Plugin Manager

4. Select all the XSP ships and hit enter. Or Run each individual ship clicking yes when promoted to allow the Plugin Manager to install. DETAILED VIDEO GUIDE AT THE TOP OF THIS FORM POST.

Ship List
  • USS Invincible (Federation Carrier Class): M1
  • USS Victory (Federation Constellation Class Refit): Very small M2. Pretty under-powered in the shields and weapons department but is 'cheap as chips!'
  • USS Defiant (Federation Defiant Class): M2 experimental battleship. Is fast, maneuverable and pretty tough. Looks like a sports car too!
  • Delta Flyer (Federation Delta Flyer): M3 Class fighter/shuttle based on an Argon Nova. It is faster but has less weaponry.
  • USS Excelsior (Federation Excelsior Class): An M2 class ship that is similar in size and handling characteristics to the Excelsior Refit (EnterpriseB)
  • USS Galaxy (Federation Galaxy Class): The ultimate federation flagship; this huge vessel was designed as a multiformat operations platform and is suited to carrying out a huge variety of civilian and military missions. Built with long term/deep space explorations as a priority, the Galaxy class can hold a medium complement of fighters/shuttles and has massive cargo storage bays.
  • USS Voyager (Federation Intrepid Class): An M2 pocket battleship - perhaps more useful as an explorer due to it's size, speed and small hangar bay.
  • Logistics shuttle (Federation Logistics Shuttle): A large shuttle that can be docked with the Federation M1s and M2s to resupply and refuel them.
  • USS Reliant (Miranda Class)
  • Nova Class
  • **More Ships** Will finish this list at a later date. The Federation Side is Complete.
WEAPONS

For weapons I use a combat mod called Cmod4 that changes how all the weapons and fighting works in the game. Its a great mod that also introduces energy weapons like the beam weapon into the game. Find it here http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=288835
