One coincidence and one lucky boarding

i jumped in terran unknown sector 3 trying to find that hidden xenon sector to pay it a visit, and - there it was. tyr with sole skirnir and pair of thors as escorts, no anti boarding equipment whatsoever. unbelievable luck. my only previous boarding attempt on tyr was bloody and unsuccessful. that ship was on my wishlist for a long time but i expected difficult boarding at least. this was piece of a cake. one curiosity - you can actually fail to hack a core on a ATF ship with no firewall software and 5 star marines, all of them.

i have just read here on forum about "undead" yaki fighters fighting on 0% hull, and that some crazy dude succeeded forcing one to bail with repair laser : ) as soon as i boarded tyr i entered TUS 1 only to find there half of ATF forces battling singe undead xenon LX. i had to test that story for myself, so i got close, jumped out of my ship, and on the heavy rain of ATF bullets starting to repair LX. it turned blue, i claimed it and now i'm proud owner of an undead LX : )

so is it still "undead"? actually, yes. it hull goes to 0% but seemingly can't be destroyed. speed is stuck on 26m/s then.
i'll keep it as a curiosity.

Xenon Sector:
As you come through the West gate into TUS3 look about 1'o'clock high, the East Gate is near the reddish moon from that angle. Roughly 80km from West Gate.
Do you miss dangerous pirates?
Try leading the target a little more...

undead LX might be good ship for taking boron tourists into xenon sector for sightseeing : )

Have you already tested what happens when you repair the LX?
Would be intereseting to have one, but I'd want it with full speed and weapons...

deca.death, congrats on the Tyr! If you hang around for a while, there will probably be another one for you. Since there are usually six ATF Tyrs in the TC universe at one time and you just took one, another will spawn. They spawn in TU3 and Moon Sector. No guarantee, but it seems that it is more likely that it spawns in the same area where you took one, or maybe where it originated. The next one might have HP (Hull Polarization) though. I've noticed that about 50% spawn with HP.

So congrats again!

yes, TUS 1 has terran SY close by. i repaired it manually up to 15% and sent it into SY for repairs. it repaired normally up to 100% (it had 1 5MJ shield installed). then i hopped in fighter and ram SY to check up my "undead" status - as i already told, hull went low as 0% and just stood there fixed. so you effectively cannot be killed. i suppose you could find use for ship like that (as a bait or target, for distraction) if you really wanted but i have no need for that. this game is really easy enough as it is.

anyway i doubt i want another tyr so quickly. that ship is really paint to equip, i am still equipping my osaka i nicked more then a month ago. i do have earth production complex now with 2+2 PSP /SSC but production rate is painfully slow. this was more a trophy then work horse ship. i find osaka much more balanced for general usage, it has some cargo space at least, you can't even properly equip tyr.

deca.death, I have noticed the problem of equipping. I have some PSP and SSC forges, too. And I clone weapons in Moon sectors. And it's still hard. I've also noticed that if you save in the Hacking Core part of a cap, and then reload a few times, you get different results. Sometimes you even get a result like 27 PSPs in the cargo hold.

yes but that is very strange seed of random numbers.
once i got 32 IBL on orca (that was happy moment for certain!), just few minutes back 24(28?) of PPC on xenon J. Still, most of times i got very skinny loot, no matter how many times i reload (just once for experiment i loaded 10+ times, i normal conditions i load max 3 times, it's not woth it, you got damn ship, be happy : )

Looks like TUS 3 is my lucky hunting ground. Just returned after boarding that tyr and xenon J was here with just few escorts and no usual ATF forces, just several traders. I have just completed my 21 5/5 crew in sirokos "Xenon hunter" so I thought, what the hell, let's do it. I planned on K first, i have no carriers in fleet yet but ...
I have some cannon fodder marines but I was uncertain of method of using them so i just went for "reload obsessively untill done" method.

22 reloads and just one marine 5/5 dead. not so bad. Too bad you cannot cap fighters in hangar this way : )
I believe I never saw AI carrier using or having fighters in hangar, or I'm mistaken?

BTW How do you arm a carrier? has 6x8 PPC/FAA capable mounts and far too little energy to sustain all. i believe flaks on top and bottom are must, or shoud I arm half of flak battery everywhere?

I just finished boarding and then ATF Odin entered the sector : )
I'll let him loose this time. Time to resupply missiles and pods.

Nah, boarding is fun, resupplying, rearming, yourself, target, M7M, ecells, jumdrives, boarding pods.... it's no fun so I always take pauses between boarding, and I'm always on lookout for good opportunity. I wouldn't know what to fill that carrier with, either weapons or fighters. Still in testing phase for carrier usage.

Anyway i don't think you'll ever find Odin without many escorts. I once tried to take out Tyr's escorts in terran space and lost two levels of terran rep : (

Get one of each type of weapons to your HUB and then set the gates ...then order your HUB's ships to buy them .Park a TL for its huge storage space and in few hours you'll have many rare weapons for your favorite terran ships .

TUS3 usually has a Tokyo and Osaka, though the Osaka just got replaced by an Odin in my game. Though my marines aren't up to dealing with ATF yet.
Do you miss dangerous pirates?

They are .Its cheaper and quicker to train them by boarding ships then waiting for them to be trained by EQs or outposts.

Method of supply is no problem, I use springy based in asteroid belt to quickly resupply my warships with weapons/shields, just there is no Terran weapons in whole game universe any more. Terran have few factories that produce few weapons in 8 hrs or so and their orbital stations (EqD) are mostly empty.

I used my "trainee" bunch for Tyr, they are 5 stars in everything except fighting, where are anything in between 30-99%. I had no casualties. Still I was unable to hack core 2 x (from 8 reloads) and if ship has hull polarisation you wont be able to cut through. Key is finding ship with as little anti boarding equipment as possible. Other ships you could fry but YOU try to fry ship which has 66 gun mounts :-)

Trust me, they aren't. Most of them came off 2nd hand M6/TM which means though I have a few 4* fighters, most have - fighting skill, which is why I'm heading after casino's ATM.
