If x 3 reunion and tc could have an online feature
hey egosoft you know what would be the most amasing thing ever that would happen is if you put an online feature; imagine just imagine how perfect your game would be think about it 5 people from around the world vs each other there could be treatys between people or it could be all out war between 2 or 5 players starting from scratch how awsome would that be, if anyone agrees please reply

Welcome to the forums!
I think a small-scale multiplayer feature would be interesting, but considering the scale of the game it would be difficult to organize. How would time compression work? What if one player wants to go to bed? What happens when someone gets bored or owned and wants to start again? How would that affect the other players? If drop-in multiplayer could be organized somehow then it'd probably be fun, but why bother tacking on a small feature like that, which not many people will use?
I know where you're coming from, OP, but the more you think about it, the more problems you run into.

took me like an hour to find an appropriately sized / weighted .gif for this forum.

this one is 1x1 and 2KB below the legal limit.

You'll not catch me playing online until being a troll becomes a capital offence.I wrote:I'd vote against it, the main reason is that every society has a group that can be loosely labelled 'social misfits' - Inadequate little people who are unable to compete on any level in the real world and in the desperate need to acquire some ill-conceived idea of self worth they would feel a deep-rooted need to make other peoples gaming experience as miserable as possible before they too go back to their own pointless little non-existant real life snarling out of their window at passers by.
Am I making myself clear?

To reiterate my opinion from the other countless threads on this subject....
I would like a coop multiplayer where players are able to drop into another person's game to HELP them. I would like to be able to have a truly smart 'fighter wing' as the AI just seems incapable of recreating that kind of experience.
I would HATE MMO. I don't play MMOs for a reason. People when given the ability to screw someone over without any real repercussions tend to turn into complete a-holes. Could you imagine spending 10 hours building that perfect complex that runs like a dream and looks freakin awesome, only to have some d-bag come by minutes after you log off and destroy it? I WOULD RAGE!!! Could you imagine spending 2 hours getting 20 or so automated traders setup and ready to make you money offline while you are chillin with your girlfriend/wife watching the latest awesome movie, only to have some prepubescent 12 year old go after 'easy' targets for target practice while you can do nothing about it? I WOULD RAGE!!!

The only way I could see multi-player working in an X type of game would be in the style of the 'multi-player' in demons souls.
After completion of part of the plot players are given 3 stones. One allows you to request help from the online community by leaving a shiny glyph on the floor. One allows you to invade a random game with +- 10 levels of you. The final one allows you to summon someone for a duel again with the +- level limit.
There is also an option to play offline with no help but it can make some of the bosses damn hard.
This could be adjusted to the x universe quite easily by substituting level values for ship + onboard ware values. You could have it so you need a jumpdrive and buy invasion / help tokens for cash, maybe in the same way you buy salvage insurance.
Could be quite fun imo.
Your opinions?

The level of silly has just hit maximum. I can not begin to fathom just how silly this suggestion really is.
I think a model like this would be begging for failure. In fact building a game upon a foundation of failure like Demons Souls, is just building more failure on top of failure and is a recipe for... failure.
No. Just no.
Stones?

Well that's my opinion.
EDIT: Here's your magic space stones. Whenever you are in danger just throw a magic space stone and hope someone comes to rescue you when they see your magic space glyph that was created by a magic space stone! LMAO

people would just be jerks and try to controll universe killing ppl when there offline killing there stations and UT's then wonder why the game is dying it happens every time.some a hole with to much time on his hands decides to go noob hunting or camp a gate and kill ppl as they come through. so no i would only play a game where i could invite a friend to come play other than that ill stick with single player.

This already exists. And I'll even save you the trouble of finding it, Multi-User Chat In-Game by AtomicDryad. Keep in mind it's still in the Alpha phase.

I'll tell you what. Go play Eve Online and then come back and tell me if you would like X3 to have an online component. Because you probably won't want an online component after you've played Eve Online and dealt with idiots whose only goal is to take everything away from you the second you log on.

I've never seen these 2 issues as a problem myself
1. log off, game converts all your assets to AI, if killed they respawn until next log on
2. Player killing, have a rep system so with each player kill the persons PK rank drops/increases, this would be dealt with by a simple method. If it ever went online I would have myself promoted to tsar of the online enforcement AI and make arbitrary and zero tolerance decisions on using my AI imperial logic military assets to give them a taste of their own medicine
