A New Home - but what use is made of it?
As the title says really! This new plot has been out for a couple of months BUT nobody has put up any post saying what they have actually done with it. My opinion is that it is too far 'east' and could have been more useful linking Legends Home with 'Avarice'. What says you ? Any really audacious uses other than stock weapon-weed uses?

For me when the new home missions came out i started a fresh game as a role playin Terran, so when i got this sector i built a 70 something terran only missile and weapon factory that i named AREA 51, why when u can clone some may ask, well i thought it would be cool
and i don't like being cheap and so no longer clone. Now my skirnir never runs dry. My hq is also there with my main battle force docked.
Tokyo with 30 cutlasses and 20 spitfyres
ATF Tyr
C0bra - ok terrans dont have boarding ships
Aegir
ODIN - for looks cause its a broken ship DAM U EGOSOFT! (shakes fist)
Mobile mining base ship
Skirnir
CBA with HUGE battlefleets these days, one ship for one mission
Too far east u say? well thats what the hub is for, u dont want it near danger tbh.

Put my HQ in it.....
What i really like about the location is, even though its situated in the ''wild space'' of the north east section of the map, its actually a very very safe sector to set up base because of it actual position, no wandering Xenon patrols ever go there, but if the mood takes me, and i do want a fight ...ie role-play a campaign to take over the some of the near Xenon sectors it would be very easy to do.
I also really like the idea of a unknown sector also being a buffer zone between my Home sector and the rest of the universe, that unknown sector makes a great 2nd base sector to put even more military resources in.

I would think that if you also complete the hub plot you can effectively relocate your "new home" sector to somewhere more central.

If you did actually a bit of backwards scrolling, you'd have found this :Neil Depledge wrote:As the title says really! Personnally I hadn't already placed my PHQ, I would have put it there and removed all roids, or at least move them out of the way, and setup a connection to my most important weapons / shields fabs complexes.
Since I already installed my PHQ somewhere else I built a PPC+1MJ shields + Flail + hammer torps + Tomahawk + fuel complex.
I find the sector position actually quite nice, being a bit behind ennemy lines and never bothered, and giving accexx to all the right side of the map if connected to the HUB for low E-cell expenses.
SCUM : They may exceed you in number, but not in value.

@Startroll - as I only get on t'Interweb every so often the links were useful, ta vm. I dropped my HQ 10 in-game days ago so will just add yet another 2/3 weapons-miss-shield complexes...... note to self - do this plot during Hub saga in future. (This is my 8th time thru' the game so I may well start afresh .. again) - cheers, Neil

I can add nothing more than what I have said reaaly. Thus follows a couple of extracts from afore mentioned threads
===============================
Yes ,so I lost 3 months work to place the PHQ in Twisted Skies, instead.
Looks cool against the ringed planet in background.
I have set up my PHQ and put in a Resource Complex, selling surpluses to other races.
At first nothing happened.
But then I linked the Hub and the magic started.

================================
As stated above,by using The Hub between the ANH sector and the UK sector to the south, you can link the ANH sector to nearly all sectors of the X-Universe.
As there is no real advantage to me for one ANH sector over another,I went for artistic value. That is why I chose Twisted Skies.

I'm going to place the PHQ in that sector once I have it. The problem is, probably, that the New Home Mission was introduced in 2.6, whereas the PHQ mission was available a lot longer. Many people already had the PHQ, but didn't have an own sector so they had to look somewhere else.

I always imagined that the Boron had tentacles. Just like the Centauri in Babylon 5. Not that I've ever imagined that of course...X3Gimp wrote:I used the hub gates to give it a link with Boron and Argon central sectors.
I'm producing Boron Ion weapons, which the boron have such a hardon for.

@TTD - your experience is my dilemma. My only early save in this game is after just 23 hours play! Granted I had my 1st mini-complex, 40 mill and going for a Mammoth as I recall. PROs: could better place my stations for the HQ (done in 11 days 10 hours from seeing that Boron) CONS I've done 6 corp plots, all plots except Treasure Hunt, 50 mill per hour, 700+ stations. I've just spent 2 hours on TC mulling this over while I decide what I will do. I hate the thinking part of this game every time there is an update/patch/upgrade or whatever. Still, nil carborunum .... Neil

If the game works for you where it is,then stick with it.
In my main game I had the shuttle and done all the main plots. But not touched the Corporation plots afaik.Might have looked at the Duke's.
But the 3 months I lost was losing many good complexes and a lot of rep building etc.So it was quite a sacrifice, even though I can still do the corp missions when I wish.
I am thinking of saving them for when there are no more official updates with plots etc.
Having read a lot about the corp missions,I gather they can be quite hard to do,so if you don't really want to repeat them again, then my advice above still holds.

@TTD: I've come to same conclusion and been designing new complexes in Unknown next to Zyarths Dominion (hereafter called UZD). A complex based on 3 Ore Mines of L/64, L/16 & L/15 can support 19 factories and there are 3 each of these in my game. As you know 4 L food facts will support 19 wsm (wep sh missile) facts so each complex can be linked to species - 19 ISR complex anyone? Thanks to all for the feedback .. Neil

Re: A New Home - but what use is made of it?
Exactly what constitutes an audacious use of a sector. As far as I can see, a complex has 3 uses. Making money, making weapons/equipment and stabilizing local economies. The only other possible thing to do would be to make a massive resource generation complex to feed a PHQ. The new home sector has plenty of asteroids in the area to feed the PHQ. Not as much as say...ore belt, but it's sufficient.Neil Depledge wrote:As the title says really! @garv222: an audacious use could be to create a spiral of all stations supplying your HQ, starting from the middle of the sector and finishing 10 km above the south gate with the hub 5km vertically below your last station. Naturally, the inclination of the spiral should mirrow the spiral galaxy in the bakground of the sector.
Obviously,screenshots are mandatory ..Neil
