DLC’s ?

Sorry I’m sure this question has been asked before , but I’ve just bought X4 Foundation today.
My Question is do I need to buy all the DLC’s
I would like to get a better ship and trade and I understand you can build a space station which I’d like to do in the game.

You can do all those things with the base game. Expansions add content (more ships, more sectors, more stories, etc.) but all the basic gameplay features, and plenty of ships and stations of all kinds for you to buy and build, are in the base game.

If you have just the base game, the DLCs you might want to look at first are Split Vendetta, Cradle of Humanity and Kingdom End. These add major factions, their ships, stations and sectors, making the universe larger and more lively and giving you more to explore.

You don't need any of them to see most of what the game has to offer (the devs are very good re: bringing new features to the base game as well so it is not like other games where you need the DLC to be 'up to date'), but if you enjoy X4 they'll add significantly to the experience.

If, i recommend Timelines.
There you get the best S and M ship, and some sectors in main game. But the DLC is a enhanced tuturial You learn a lot of things by doing arcade style missions.

If you want the best XL ships, then COH (Asgard) or TOA (Erlking) or Split (Raptor) DLC.
