It is on my TODO list for remaking Lucike's scripts, but it isn't a high priority (Combat is so meh atm I don't see there being a bunch of hostile sectors)
I understand what you mean, I used to love the War mods etc. that impacted the Xenon for one. Back when these mods where new the Xenon ripped the factions to shreds, now they barely make a dent in my saves :/
If you run FOWC mod you will get plenty of xenon action. Tharka's Cascade is one huge Xenon nest in my game, and every time one of my mentally ill miners goes there in search of a quick buck, it get's blown up. Lost a couple of miners due to this already. I wish I could just blacklist the god forsaken sector for all but my warships. I might just have to conquer the sector to save my miners...
Sounds like a hard thing to do, but there also needs to be a solution to the way in which things interact from the AI perspective. I mean if a miner goes in a gets blown up, then someone saw it (eventually). So someone would pass on the "threat" level of any given sector.
Maybe those that are looking at this issue might consider looking at a way to add some form of DEFCON rating for a sector. Either giving military forces a state of readiness to invade, maybe at a certain point more security forces are sent around the gates (etc.) into such sectors. From this standpoint the Trader/Miner could assess, then avoid based around this sort of thing.
After all, the scripts are based upon dynamic responses and choices, however the AI seems to be like politicians, out of the loop of the real world.
