I have asked the devs. When I saw the thread title I thought this would be about fluff NPC freighter wares such as vacuum cleaners, promotional plates, containers, posters, etc. :D

That's exactly what I was thinking!

Gleamed from the source code of the X4 page:

Edit: Looking at this concept art it reminds me very much of the Expanse TV adaptation.

If you go on the Alexander Preuss Facebook page, you can download a 1365x2048 version of the image from this post (don't use the browser "save image" option, but use the FB button Options > Download).

EDIT: zooming in on the image you can see compression artifacts though, so I guess it's better to wait for the devs :)

Amazing find! This could work on a larger scale print nicely already.

And, while you're at it, why not have a "Community Competition" for funsies? Nothing "official" and nothing involving anyone's creative copyright (Like a promise for box-art credits) but just one that you can have on occasion.

You'll have such a competition when you feel the time is ripe. It'll last for a month or so, depending upon what you decide given the current activity level and likely number of submissions.

You'll decide in-house which fan-designed poster for that period is best as well as a "runner-up." You'll post them on the X4 news/fan page. Once there are enough of them, you'll stick them in a gallery somewhere. On release/launch/public-beta, you'll drag them out to help publicize the game on sites/pages you own (no pub/copyright issues there), with links so visitors can go gawk at the "fan gallery." (The public seeing what is a large representation of fan participation will naturally feel more positively disposed towards the community, developer and the game, itself.)

Each winner gets a special award icon, much like the icons already available, so no extra efforts or resources are really needed for an "Award" that participants would feel is meaningful.

Now, I have a reason to construct some new models... Gotta dig up some old refs, though, and maybe crank up some apps I haven't touched in awhile or buy some new ones now that I have an excuse for having. :)

Put them through Photoshop, Hex codes for some of the pixels are

#326278
#08222f
#598d9b
#2f5061
#74a3ad
#2e5c73
#133443

I think Dulex have some factory in the UK where you can create your own colour if you have the hex code for it, I think they even let you name it if it's newly discovered.
