There is no compelling reason to check on the Steam forum but once in a while there is a shining gem of such quality that it must not be ignored.

I assume... that he could sue you if your mod ruins his savegame if he didn't make a backup prior to installing it.

OTOH, I'd pay money to be present when a real judge hears this...

Just FUD. "what if it has a virus, what if it has a trojan," blah blah blah. "I didn't agree to accept code written by third parties" everyone uses third party code in their software products. I say it is FUD because it sounds like he is trying to scare people away. Either FUD or he has been skipping his meds (or likely both.) Worked for a developer for many years, we never had liability insurance and did occasionally have bad releases.. Stuff happens...

It's quite a thread, to be sure. I'm not sure that Gary actually understands what "mods" are.

Anyway, I made my own token effort to help fight the good fight, or whatever. Not that I expect it to make much difference in the wilderness of teh internet, but at least my conscience is clear.

This guy seemed like someone out to find a patsy to sue for something and doesn't understand these laws at all, so just maybe hes trying to make up a new one all by himself.

It also seems the man in question thinks modders helped make the 1.18 patch and maybe some others, so then he can whine that Ego is using slave labor or something without the use of condoms or.........whatever. He needs some help, seriously.
