(X3:TC) Blueprints and the PHQ, how to make ships?

Post by thunderai »

There are so many threads on this topic I am sure that using the search button for the keyword blueprints yielded me nothing I could parse through to answer my question. So I appologize for this being a perhaps often asked question.

I have reversed engineered, an Eclipes, Asp, Demeter Super Frieghter, and a few other ships I've found laying around.

How do I turn those blueprints into an actual ship? I know you need a certain number of resources to do this, but how do I figure out what resources I need and how do I tell the PHQ to build the ship I want?

Thanks

When you add a ship to the production queue (by double clicking on the list of blueprints), you will get a set of goods that it needs, and below each, how much of each is required.

One way to start is by buying a TL and docking it at the PHQ, then recycling it. That will provide you with the resources required to build a ship smaller than a TL.

I send TLs that I capture to my PHQ to be recycled, which means I have a constant supply of all the materials I need to make anything, up to and including M1/2 class ships.

Right now I'm building a set of Terran Atmospheric Lifters (80,000 cargo space ftw:) ).

Think there is a build queue list in the station parameters menu (where you RE'd the ship). Select that and add ships from the list to the queue. They will be built when you have the resources. To see what resources you need press either i or u (cannot remember which) on the ship name in the blueprint list. (NB: this was from R, I don't think it has changed much in TC but if it has can someone tell me I am talking rubbish?!)

Who do you pick on to get the TL's? Will a TL bail or do you have to use Marines to capture them? I was considering picking on the Yaki and captiring their TL's as they seem to have alot of them in Senators Badlands. Any other suggestions?

You have to board them with marines, they will not bail. And personally, with an M7M, I find M2s much easier to take. Akumas are easy, Ryus die far too easily. Think the other tactic people use is to pick on the unarmed Arena/Casino ships you see flying around (civilian TLs) which have no guns. Or hire a TL, order them to fly to an empty sector and then pirate the ship.

I get my TLs by picking on the civilian ships in any core sector. Civilian TL ships (Arenas, Casinos, Hospitals and other names) are always unarmed, so easy pickings.

I dont think I can get myself to hire someone to take their ship, that feels wrong. I don't have an M7m so capping won't happen in some time and I'll have to read up on the best way to do it.

Oh they care, but the higher your rank with said race, the smaller the hit when you go after their ships, plus any lost rep can be easily replaced by doing station missions for said race.

Most of the time I pick on the Argon. I got to maximum Argon rep and Warlord status just doing missions in my starter ship and a Nova.

I've got every station of theirs that I might need, and all of their ships blueprinted, so all I have to do is avoid them hating me. I'd have a long way to drop for that to happen.

I've even been able to kill a few police busters in their core sectors when they wouldn't back down.

Well here is a problem i am having now.

I have four Demeter Haulers doing "Station Financial Manager", where they will go out and sell the products at the PHQ. They even go to my Guass Cannon forge and resell my goods to myself, ouch. What I want those four demeters to be doing is going out and getting me the supplies i need to build ships.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to do that, so they dont sell off my stuff?

Also, I'd like one of those Demeters to stick to hauling items from THe Guass Cannon forge, but without me having to pay for it and not only one ware at a time.

Your don't need an M7M to cap Yaki Ryus, I use a Blossom, Hyperion or HCP. Use highly trained marines in the trainable skills, TL hulls can be pretty thick. Remeber to equip your capping ships with a smallish weapon to keep the shields down, quite delicate.

The Ryu has an open loading/access slot in the side, midships. This is a total blind spot from it's quite formidable weapons.
Happy hunting.

I'm having a similar problem. (in X3:R)

Just got my HQ, and I'm using it as a storage for all the missiles I've collected from pirates silly enough to come into range of my M7 (Bala'Gi missions are one hell of a teaser for TC... :P ).

I want to set up a station manager, and give it a stack of freighters to go buy the materials to repair a few of my ships, but I don't want them to go and sell-off all my acquired loot (got some nice winnings like 3 Alpha PPC's just waiting for my first big ship). Do I have to sit down with every single trader for that staion and put all those missiles, weapons and shields on the 'do not trade' list, or is there an alternative??

I think the game calls the PHQ a "Dock" in X3R. If not exactly, then at least close enough. And Station Manager will only sell from a Dock, never buy to it. The original design of Station Manager simply refused to work on docks, because it was intended for Factories. Ethical trader.

Commercial Agent (CAG) can buy to PHQ. X3R CAG either buys or sells for Dock, but not both. All of them. So you cannot have two CAG on PHQ, one buying, other selling. But there again, CAG will trade all wares, unless explicitly forbidden (ware lock). Quite an initial setup, but once done it does sterling job.

X3TC: The CAG is more configurable there. It should be childishly easy (compared to the X3R configuration UI) to set one up to serve the PHQ.

Edit: There is always Search( Headquarter, HQ, PHQ )

Some good advise on here, just tagging the post so I can refer back to it.
