Newbi race siggnatures

Post by Syndrome »

EDIT: I have made completely new ones, alot better than my first two. They're down below. If you've just seen the post, tell me what you like best and how to improve it.

Nice clear shots of the ships ;)

as player said a more subtle font and size will compliment the shot nicely (remember less is more ;) )

Also try playing around with some FX assuming your not just using paint

Images are good,
words are not.

Too big, too bright, first one is broken up too far (never was a fan of such stuff), second one covers the more interesting part of the image.

I made completely new ones. It took me an hour to make them all and post them on the net but they're all pretty good. What's your favorite?

Very nice screenies once again but your still going for huge fonts that cover loads of the sig

The most interesting part of the sig will never be the Writing
so compliment the image with a smaller font size ;)

try playing around with some blurs an glows on the writing aswell though.
look at Players sigs for example :P

Ohh stop :D

*Blush

But i have to agree with Stevio there, the fonts are the center of the image and they cant be since they are too plain, if they were complex then maybe...but try to find a diffrent location for the font

Ok, better this time.
As far as words' positions and fonts go, I say 'Boron' and 'Teladi' are better than others.

The problem with those signatures is that, those big letters are taking people's attention away from the image - which doesnt look really good.
You need to find some balance, and figure out what part of the signature should have more accent and what should have less.

As it stands right now, I suggest doing something with the words, that would make them still noticable, but less 'important' than the images itself.

There are tons of things you can do in Photoshop to achieve this. For starters, you could decrease the "opacity" of your words.
Look through the effects; try using masks; and paintbrush (as it's one of the most useful tools)... That's all assuming that you have Photoshop.
Same can be done with other programs too, more or less.

You can actually do a lot in Paint too, except it's pretty much impossible to reduce opacity of anything, or add complex effects. But I've done 3D drawings in it long time ago :)

I blurred up the Boron a bit and changed the picture and text position of the Argon one. I don't think the Earth one needs changing. The text on it is pretty thin so you can see the Earth well. Besides, there's not much else I can do except look for another sreenie.

Now that I look at it, the Xenon one is shocking

The original Argon one is alright to me, although I could change the font size a bit.

Boron is fine (my favorite).

Paranid needs changing, probably another picture.

Pirate one looks good to me. You can see the pirate base and the disco well.

Split is ok, but like the Argon, I could use a smaller font.

And Teladi is as good as I can get (my second favorite).

And, I'm using Photo Filtre for my editing. A nice simple program I'd definitely recomend for beginners.

IMO thats *gasps* worse :P it hurts my eyes looking at it (though that may just be me :P)
but yeah, I like the new argon one.

hm... seems ok.
There's less accent on the words now, and the ship is more noticable.
But blurring certainly makes things harder to read.

probably abit too much Blurring tbh
try playing with the blur settings or even different types of blur ;)

or you could bevel the writing and put an outer glow on it, be creative :P
