Patch 1.3 Feedback
I'd like to hear from some of you who have installed patch 1.3, and what your opinions are. Did it resolve your performance issues? Do the fixes "work"? etc... Let me know what you think.

1.3 fixes!
It seemed to work but now i can only look through my ship. Namely the top of the canopy is showing and the gun ports. It's as if the pilot has been shuved back about 4 feet futher into the ship.

Don't know about you guys i may have found another sort of bug or atleast i think it is.
I tried replaying the final mission where you have to save earth from destruction from the threat. But at the very end of that mission you are transported back to argon prime to go to some party but all i get is back to my ship again.
And argon one is there but i can't go to it everytime i stear my ship to it my ship spins around and return me back to where i was point prior to aiming at argon one.
Is this suppose to happen ??
As you can see i'm a bit confused.
DZorro,

Here I am at my job, doing some imaging (yay) off to the side...and BAM! Patch 1.3 comes out!
Now I CANNOT wait to go home and take this baby for a ride...but until then - people please post feedback! Does it or does it not do all the things that it promises? Those that aren't so lucky to be playing the game right now deserve some info..!

Perhaps the patch did work and everyone is actually enjoying it rather than sitting here waiting for answers

Nope.
1.3 didn't do it for me. I can still hear only the last 1-3 seconds from the dialogues.
Luckily, last night I installed XP on another hard disk and with some tweaking got the sounds work perfectly there, but not with this "main" install.
It's just such a burden to swap boot priority from BIOS everytime I want to play X3.. Not to mention the reboot it requires. I haven't yet patched the lite XP install of X3, I'm working on getting the sounds work with this setup (XP Pro + Audigy 2 ZS).

Sector enhancements look very nice.
Never had crashes so cant say if they're any better.
Not tried mobile mining, not rich enough to start that.
My biggest problem was the performance issues, how about the main menu is that noticably faster? And could you tell us what the extra graphical options are?

yeah thats better, the menus now noticably slide smoothly in and out to/from the sides of the screen, the blue twirl in the x still animates poorly but thats probably a gif or something.
The mouse now scrolls smoothly.
The graphics options are:
Direct 3D device
Resolution
Fullscreen/Window
Texture Quality
Shader/Quality
Automatic Quality Control
Anti-aliasing (choice of off/2x/4x)
Anisotropic filtering (off/2x/4x)
Glow Enabled
HTH

I have to say, the performance incrases are noticable and very much appreciated. I like the little fade when you go through a gate (however i wish there were some intermediate movie or scene). I started crashing, where before I had not, but I will deal with it for now until I lose some phenomenal amount of work, at which time I will take an opportunity to flame
I can't seem to find any pirates to gank, however, despite the fact they should be spawning from bases now. ~_~ Bonzai for race rank lock!
Edit: Finally! You can highlight a ship in the Shipyard Trade window, and hit "i" and actually get the stats. If this was there before, it never worked for me, but if not - hallelujah!

this is just great... i can still only play 3 minutes, and then, soundloop freeze. Reinstalled the game, removed all added scripts, still the same. So my last chance, gonna start a new game ( after joining 23 million credits and explore almost all sectors, and raising my combat rank pretty high, etc ffs)

yeah the jumps are nicer, and I agree with you, it would be nice to replace that black with something interesting, even a screen showing the system and displaying some info like from sector map or a cool blue swirling movie or something.
The whole game seems a lot smoother and polished now
Shame your getting crashes now though whereas you weren't before - what a dilemma
