I don't get it. Did you pay anything for X rebirth yet? no.
You paid for previous X, you got them. It was your choice to buy them.
At the moment EGOSOFT has no obligation whatsoever towards you or any of us. If they want, they can even cancel it right now and you won't have a say in the matter.
Once you actually buy the game, then you can start demanding stuff. Till then, your frustration is totally pointless.
Being a fan of the game doesn't give you right to make demands in such a way either. Like all of us, you're just a player who likes the game, that's all.

On the other hand I am free to feel frustrated or whatever. Me and others.
You can't just expect that we SHOULD behave a specific way because they don't OWE us anything. Indeed they don't. We don't owe them either right?
They will come out (if/when game comes) wanting new customers won't they?

EDIT: * Actually seems that many people actually DID make requests and demands on what should be in X:R. I am not one of them.

So you're saying that the problem is that they put out loads of information, then they stopped, and you're saying that's a bad policy and that the game's therefore going to sell terribly...?

About getting new customers, that's EGOSOFT's problem not yours.
Requests are different then demands. Especially in the way people ask for them.

Close. I actually imply they don't have a policy and MAYBE they don't even have a product (let's hope the second doesn't apply).

Everybody theorizes in here. Allow me to do the same.

No problem man, although it gets more personal than it should. I find half the theories I read here non viable too.

In my theory the screenshots are half concept art half when the product was in actual development.

Disclaimer: It is a theory. I will be happy if it goes down with fireworks.

Even if/when it comes, I won't regret criticizing their so called marketing policy. It basically sucks.

2. I am talking about a theory - No, they are my opinion and concerns.

3. I am talking about a 'policy' and the gaming population in general - No, I am actually talking only about consistent repetitive criticism and complaint made in this forum only.

4. I am blaming the fans - No, I am concerned about the perceived accumulated level of criticism and its effects.

Please have the decency to allow me to express my own opinions on the forum. End of that particular debate as far as I am concerned.

I have to say this version has me looking forward to X again
If I recall they got real quiet like this before X2 and I believe that was when they switched to DS as a pub

I can't be alone in that, with the PC gaming market having become flooded with premature releases of crappy PC ports containing little to no controller or key mapping support, poor game play, and disappointingly inferior sequels of solid titles, I am grateful and extremely excited for the promise of a new title from a company with a proven history of releases that expand upon quality, playability, options, performance and content with each new installment. I personally think the Egosoft team must be a family of gamer programmers who love to play their own creations. For me, waiting is the easy part. Looking forward to the next big thing from such an epic company, is an awesome thing.

Aha, wondered where you'd gotten to, haven't seen you in an age on the forums.
I can mod smallish things nothing ground breaking though.

I remember that too, got eerily quiet about releases.
I'm really looking forward to this one as it's a total rewrite so new guys and old timers alike will have to relearn a fair few things

For what it's worth, Egosoft has my support as far as this is concerned. I hope they'll give more information, but publishers can be limiting. If this is what they decide, then that's cool - that's what they decide.

I don't owe a stranger on a street anything, but I certainly wouldn't spout abuse at them, or even an all-caps Pessimism Assault.

Looks that way, I saw it on FB and ran here. My thoughts on the screenshot, it looks to be the aftermath of a capital ship battle. I think that is the previously shown capital ship in the background with damage, and the foreground is another cap ship out of action or heavily damaged.
