Some more work done today, I have put together a list of codes that the website converts. I think I have mentioned it before.
But as you can now edit the downloads from the frontend and have access to the requires icons ect. I think its better for you to know which code does what:
Click here (also in the user menu)
The requires icons block uses 3 drop down menus to select which icons you want, 2 mods and a install program. There is also a custom text box you can use for more detail called 'More Specific'.
You can see the requires block in the website on the right of this re-used picture:
http://www.x1tp.com/root/images/edit.jpg.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have put some work into configuring a better wysiwyg editor, it called JoomlaCK or JCK. You can select it if you go to edit account in the user menu.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When editing the Text Pages, More Specific, Text Files ect text boxes, you have to use bbcode or html to format the text. Also use <br /> to create a new line.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is also now possible to allow members to become moderators / editors so they can have access to edit all the downloads, this means you don't have to go through all the back end to edit what you want.
So if you want to help and edit the download entries to add more information, screenshots, detail or clean up messy downloads please first register at the website then pm me on this forum. I can then enable you to become a moderator / editor.

Yeah, that one. Tried different browsers (Opera, Firefox, IE 7), but it doesn't work with any of them.SS_T wrote:The Resiter / login link in the menu?, if so that's strange it works for me.
Thanks, that's what I'm looking for. Works perfectly.SS_T wrote:Well this is something I need to get back to and fix, I have added a edit link at the end of title of the download. There is some bugs which I need to fix but it is still usable.
Thank you for the other reworked and new features, as well.

Very nice, this should also help mods to be found from ppl that dont know about these forums..
My feedback on the site:
1) Cycrow changes his links to his installer, so you either need to check that or mirror it yourself
.
2) newbi user is not going to know spk files are, so you should explain what that is ( Or name the links spk download: ).
Page is a bit slow, you can cheat and use https://www.cloudflare.com/ they will provide you with a bit of security and speed up the page delivery alot ( They have a free option). Could even save you some bandwith.
I also hope this means some ppl will make "mod paks" setting up the mods for a game can be a daunting task, so some sort mod packs would be nice.

Sorry for the late reply i've been away, thanks for the feedback and suggestions.
So if any one wants to they can, but it is some work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I get time - things to look at/do:
- Reworking the template
- Create an optional quick load template/theme
- Look at making a guide section
- Continue work on the database template.
iirc cyrows plugin manager has an update facility, so I didn't need to link to the newest version. I might be wrong though.EKS wrote: 1) Cycrow changes his links to his installer, so you either need to check that or mirror it yourself.
I will look into doing this.EKS wrote: 2) newbi user is not going to know spk files are, so you should explain what that is ( Or name the links spk download: ).
I have already looked into speeding up the website, and it caused a few problems. But yeah I know its a bit slow, i will look into making it faster.EKS wrote: Page is a bit slow, you can cheat and use https://www.cloudflare.com/ they will provide you with a bit of security and speed up the page delivery alot ( They have a free option). A couple of years a go I did make a couple of mod packs for x3 the reunion, then a team was created on the TXU. However only one is released.EKS wrote: I also hope this means some ppl will make "mod paks" setting up the mods for a game can be a daunting task, so some sort mod packs would be nice.

The website has outgrown the template, its starting to look cluttered. I'm trying to design a new one to be quick loading, good to look at and easy to use.
This is what I have so far: >>LINK<<
To access that template you need to login to website and select x1tp3 on the template selector.
Its no way near finished, just an idea so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Template Speed
Done by loading up the x3 terran conflict category for a second time
10/10/11 x1tp3 speed: 1.38 seconds
05/09/11 x1tp2 Full Screen Speed: 1.18 seconds
30/01/11 x1tp2 speed: 1.56 seconds
15/08/10 x1tp1 speed: 1.06 seconds
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Other things
- Updated the jdownloads component
- Edited the category image size

Did a bit more work today on the new template, its slow going.
24/11/11 Update
Introduced a collapse module structure to the left which makes it a lot less cluttered while fitting more on the page. New back and forward arrows on either side of the article (On google chrome, however the forward arrow may not show on IE or firefox.)

- Added a new Albion Prelude Category
- Changed the theme/template, It was meant to be a temporary theme I originally designed for something else but it made the website easier to read and seems to be quicker so I am keeping it.
- Re-added the 5 star ratings
- Added a shout box for registered users

It is possible to add a mod entry to the database without me even hosting it, all you have to do is go to submit file / upload file then fill out the form as you would if you where going to upload a mod. But in the select file section you can paste a website or forum topic address into the text box and the database will automatically assume it is a webpage you have to go to, to download. So now when a user clicks download they will be taken to your website to download.

imo this is not ideal because if your website or download goes offline the mod may be lost. But this might be a good alternative if you want to control your files or maybe they are too big.
However once you submitted your mod could you edit the entry and select XD_ICON_NOT_HOSTED please.

I'm having some trouble with the website this evening.
In google chrome the Edit option doesn't work for my mod entries. I get a circular animated hourglass icon then blank page.
In IE the edit control worked and rendered a long list of properties but the [Browse] buttons don't work so I can't upload new files.
It used to work fine with the previous method of editing mod entries, with the 4-5 tabs that would appear for editing the entries instead of a flat list. I'd not be sad if it were reverted.
10 Feb - Tonight I tried IE again and it's the same as with chrome: both result in a blank page when editing mod properties. Also I noticed that when compatibility mode is enabled in IE that the default view shows tabs from left to right, but when disabled, all the mod properties are shown in a long list.

It is the lightbox feature that is conflicting with it, disabled the lightbox for now. It should be working again now.Shimrod wrote:I'm having some trouble with the website this evening.

Worked on fitting a iframe. In total [1165 files] in 99 categories
Changes (That I can remember):
The new iframe give users ability to directly embed their forum topic into the mod profile on the xdownloads website. This allows the most recent changes to be viewed on the website without even leaving the site.
example: http://www.x1tp.com/root/images/forum%20tab.jpg
To use this, go to your download and edit it. Select the optional tab then paste the forum topic link into the 'EGOSOFT forum topic link' text box. It doesn't have to be from this forum though.
example: http://www.x1tp.com/root/images/forum%20box.jpg
Having it in the print topic mode makes it fit better in the website but you can't select the next page.
Next
Bring back the text files / page / command slot ect

I found few mistakes into the mods posts in the website:
In the X3: Albion Prelude in category: Ships / Stations / Objects, there are 2 different mods (packs) with the same name "Gate Pack".
This mod correct name is "Gate effect pack", link to mod post:
http://www.x1tp.com/root/index.php?opti ... 2&cid=1242
Also mod author is me, but not Solek and link to this mod post to the Ego forum is from "Gate Pack" by Solek, but there must be link to this post - http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=296383
Also "Main Menu Scene Pack" mod author is me, not Solek.
