and if you read the latest news, u'll see that even more missions are being added by a patchEcthelion wrote:Great! You'll probably get around to it by the time I get bored with TC's vanilla missions. From the way things look, TC has a lot more to offer in the way of missions, so it will probably stay interesting longer.Cycrow wrote: but i do plan to port, or rewrite some of my old scripts into TC eventually so im sure some of the guilds will be included in that

Heheh - first someone needs to poke DoubleShadow to upgrade his modding tools. The current X3 Editor can still open the cat files but that's it.fud wrote:I can't wait to start modding it. It's been a couple years since modding X3:R, so I'm sure there's a lot of dust/cobwebs that need knocked off first.

Opps, sorry for going off-topic

Cheers Euclid

ECHO ...Welp, I've done my part and ordered a copy off of Steam just now. A year or so from now when EgoSoft releases a non-protected executable, I'll buy it again on DVD and re-install, just like I did with X3. I'll also do my part to tell as many of my friends about X3TC as I can. Gotta get EgoSoft some money for all their hard work!
Just confirmed my purchase with Steam. ROCK!! And when I can get a hard copy - somewhere down the line - to set on my shelf beside XBTF, X2 & X3, I will gladly shell out the coin.
There seems to be some confusion on Steam's forum as to whether or not X3TC will be available for pre-load. I know that the option is not currently available to me. We can see quite clearly, as per the newest news, that it should be available for pre-load within the next day or two. The rumor over there is that Steam doesn't believe it will be a big drain on their servers, so they aren't going to make it available for pre-load and that it will be available for download on release day.

Here's a link to the thread ~ if it works.
This is actually a copy of the last message posted to that forum:
So it seems that there is a bit of confusion. Anybody care to comment or clarify? I personally hope it's available for pre-load. If not, I'll happily wait for it to download on release day.many users in germany are already playing X3 TC why isn't the game already playable on steam when egosoft has already sent the game out???

I sure do like biscuits

You mean the newsletter that this very topic is about? I wouldn't be much of a self-respecting X3 fan if I hadn't read it prior to posting here.Cycrow wrote: and if you read the latest news, u'll see that even more missions are being added by a patch

But I noticed that the sentence in question didn't explicitly promise new missions in 1.2:
All it says is that new missions will be added in future upgrades, and that 1.2 is coming out this week. That doesn't necessarily mean that 1.2 will include new missions. Many years of seeing patches that didn't bring as many changes as expected (which includes many games, not just Egosoft ones) have taught me to be careful about getting my hopes up and to be very precise in reading about upcoming patches. I'd love to see extra missions so soon out the gate, but I'm not expecting it.We are already working on new missions and content for future upgrades and plan to have version 1.2 ready for release THIS WEEK!

Yes, you can backup a steam download. However, you need an internet connection to authenticate the game whenever you reinstall it, and TAGES may impose further restrictions. So long as you have at least occasional access to the internet, you should have no major problems, but if you are likely to go for a prolonged period with no internet access at all, Steam is probably not the best way forward.captain1 wrote:also can anyone tell me if i order the game from steam

I have not found this out yet.
Will the Steam version have the same moddability as a NoN-Steam version?
Will the XTM equivalent for TC (when its out of course) work with the steam version?
Kinda hard for me, a Canadian, to find a place to buy it besides steam.
It will cost $80 to have it shipped from egosoft. It will be an awesome game... but the steam version is... $50 dollars cheaper.
The only thing holding me back is: "Will it be fully moddable?"
Thanks.

Hello. I ordered it today from Egosoft Shop using credit card. When the order form comes up from pay pal, type in your credit card number, date of expiration and the 3 digit number and it will show it with no problem.clcabbage wrote:Is PayPal the only method on egosoft 's shop? Congratulations!
I'm so excited I can't sleep! Don't think I've been this excited about a game release since Oblivion.

Available in North America only through Steam? Absolutely r*******. No idea if that is Egosoft's call or the publishers (that Egosoft chose), but either way, absurd. Congrats.
Edit - I should also say that if they couldn't find a distributor, that's too bad, but it still sucks. I have no desire to order it online, in any fashion. Guess I'll have to decide if the game is worth it or not.
