considering the SUPERBOX that is closing each day.....

I was thinking of creating paper models of all the X-Universe starships to add to the superbox... THAT would be FRIKKIN COOL imho.

I have all Homeworld saga papermodels... and I'd love to have X-ships too.

could you post a quick tutorial to make papermodels?

I'm a low-level modder and I know the existence of Pepakura programs... so I think I can do that too... I'd really like to do that. :D

I endorse this idea. :D

And while I'm blatantly requesting things, the Sabre would be a fine addition to the paper model lineup. ^^

Wow! Sorry for this very late reply :(, but here's the tutorial: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 42#2556142

Good luck, but it isn't so simple as you think. :P

Hmm...maybe I can submit my Argon Buster and X-Shuttle to the colection? :)

Thank you. :)

I am currently building something, but I don't know when I will finish it or if I would finish it. I haven't done something at it for months and it's only ~10% complete (I am talking of an assembled model)...very complicated model.

My head just asploded from the awesomeness!

I build aircraft carriers and have the Titpitz (WW2 battleship, sister ship to the Bizmark) also busy with the USS Enterprise nuclear aircraft carrier and have a few planes. This would just be SO COOL to add to my stand!

Thanks for an awesome piece of art!

EDIT: Tim-O don't leave us hanging! what did you use to make that model of yours? good model though!!

I took the mesh from the game and used Blender to construct a much simpler version of it, using the original as a reference. The model is intended to be relatively easy to assemble for beginners. Hence the simplifications. It is pretty sturdy and has lots of internal structure. The hardest part is the cockpit.

I'm not sure if I should first let some people build the white model or make the textures. I've never created a paper model sheet before. Let alone texturing it. I've not made any instructions yet either, so just throwing it at the world like this is probably not a good idea.

Anyway, I don't have time right now to continue this. I'll probably continue in mid to late July. The textures could take quite some time though. I don't intend to use ingame textures because they are crappy for paper models.

If someone wants to build the white model without instructions, let me know. Don't expect it to be easy though.

That is truly impressive. I have always admired paper designs and building, and to make something so cool and impressive from a great game like X is really amazing. My hat is off to you sir.
