If you downloaded the version of EST and the Libraries that came on the first post of this thread, that's probably why.

Check out this post, it may help you. It shows where to get the most recent versions of both.

Just make sure, the needed library is installed correctly.

If not installed, install it.
If already installed, but faulty ... re-install it.

Here you can get the most recent one: Befehlsbibliothek "Libraries"

Ok I am no longer getting that message. I guess the files were not being properly overwritten. I kept copying and pasting them when i just should have used the extract function on my Zip program.

I do have one other question. While i like The EST script there is always a point in any game when i will have multiple EST's running and then they will all just stop working. They will just camp at a station and when i check on their status it will say waiting for trade or something else and nothing I try will get them to start trading again.

If a EST is on standby, it doesn't need to mean he does nothing ... once I thought the same:

I had all my EST's homebased at one station, and while wandering through the owned ships list, I recognized a lot of standby's too. Lucike told me afterwards, standby also mean that the EST is doing his search for benefitable trade runs. I guess, the more you have, the more they compete to each other, the longer they have to search for profitable trade runs, the more EST you see sitting at standby.

Also, the EST own search engine is quite detailed, but therefore slower than the MK3-search engine (which btw. gets used, if you install and activate trade command software mk3 on a EST)

If you don't trust them, keep an eye on them ... or even two. ;-)

Or maybe it helps, to specialize the EST to different (groups of) wares or different areas of the universe to reduce competition between them.

Ok i will try this out in my current game and see how it works. Its dissappointing though that i cant have a big fleet of EST's running around trading its a big galaxy after all. :) Also i have never and i say never seen the Trade Software MK3 work with the EST script all it ever does is just sit in a station on standby.

As said, it doesn't mean that the EST doesn't find trade runs but that they didn't find one yet but they are still in the search. If I remember right, Lucike did tell EST has to do "while-in-while"-structures inside up to the third "layer" (?). Do go through of them, it needs time unfortunately ... if your cpu were faster or if egosoft did add multi core support, these times may could be lower ... ;-)

Don't get what you mean to say about MK3 and EST? All my EST's get trained with MK3 equipped and activated, and all of them are doing fine.

When my EST's go on strike they really go on strike. I have left my computer running overnight with myself out of system and running SETA and they are still in the same place doing excatly the same thing next morning which is abosolutely nothing.

Im sorry but i did not understand what you just said.

I custom built this computer with an intel core i-7 920 cpu. I should think thats fast enough. Also like i said before i have left this computer on running overnight with myself flying a ship out of system in SETA and they still do nothing.

When i try to run the Trade software MK3 all my pilots do is sit there and they never level. I dont understand what I am doing wrong that would cause this. :?:

In closing I just want to say i appreciate all the help :)

Make a log of your problematic EST's ... "Analysis to log"-feature ... log to be found in a textfile just beneath your savegame directory, and post it afterwards if you can't find a error by yourself.

Hello again,

Is there a simple way to edit this script so that it will allow me to use M6's as EST? Currently it only allows TS. I use SRM mod which makes Truelight Seeker an excellent trade ship.

Thanks. :)

EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot Trade Command Mk 1. Derp...

Hello,

I just started playing X3 and this mod is awesome! I only have one issue: when I try to order my pilot to another ship on the same station all I get is high pitch noise and nothing happens. I've tried from both directions to no avail. I have the latest version install (v3205), both ships have the pre-req trading software. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Larque123, you would transfer from the ship with the pilot to the new one through the reassign pilot command.

Check to make sure no npc ships have docked and caused your ship to be ejected into space as you are in the menu trying to transfer.

I cant say whats causing it, but i would check those things, also double check you have all needed equipment on the new ship. what ships or classes of ship are you trying to transfer him between, and whats his rank?

Also is this the bonus pack edition of EST of the latest version from the S&M forum?

Legionnaire: For various reasons, the EST was not included in the Bonus Pack, largely I suspect because it wasn't submitted.

So there isn't a Bonus Pack version.

Larque: You can also use the Personnel Transporter to move the pilot out of the old ship and then into the new one.

I was finally able to transfer my pilot using the EST "Order Trader to another Ship" command, but I had to restore EST to defaults and ensure that the MK3 trading software was not configured for either pilot.

Thanks for the tips

I have some dumb questions.

1. Can I just tell the EST to start trading without selecting a ware?
2. Does he start with the ware I select and add/subtract more on the fly when leveling up?
3. How do I get him to use an M6?

1. If you have Trade Mk III
2. I think you have to add more manually as they level if you don't get Trade Mk III
3. I had same problem. Get them Trade Mk I along with everything else. Easy to forget because TS's tend to come with it, and M6's don't.

1 Yes

2 Any wares that are on board an EST when started are viewed as 'hands off' by the EST pilot i believe, best to just give them bare minimum, in the way of equipment and let them buy the additional items they need like jumpfuel, fighter drones etc.

3 I believe you can just start the command straight off while the ship is docked in a station. Has to be docked to hire a pilot. If it doesnt start on the MS, then you will likely have to start him on a TS until he ha gained a level or two.

Ah. Thanks guys. I'll start them off as standard ST/LTs unitl I get the "Trader" rank and then set them the EST's. I'll need to do that too but with Truelight Seekers to keep the Terran sectors alive.

SRM Truelight Seeker = Uber trade ship. It took me a while to convert my whole CAG/CLS/EST fleet of 30+ TS's (tedium) but it was WELL worth it from being in Mistral and Mistral SF's. Never heard of OP trade ship, but maybe that too. :p
