I had cash to spare, so thought I'd give the mobile mining base ship a go.
First problem. Whats the point of the mining base ship if TL's can't dock? The description says it serves as a base for other mining ships to offload their mined materials, but if they can't dock, they can't offload.
Second is obviously the problems with the commands, in that none of them work.
I assume the Mine Minerals command doesn't work because it requires a place to offload the minerals, as in a mobile mining base. You can't offload minerals into stations, only sell them there, and so the only place to offload them would be the mining base, but TL's can't dock...
The Mine and Trade command seems to be for if you don't have a mining base ship to collect everything, so you tell the ship to go off, mine, then sell what gets mined. That doesn't work for me either. My fully kitted Mercury Tanker flies off a few sectors after being given the command, then just sits around doing nothing, despite having Mine and Trade as its current order still.
The whole system needs fixing.

Hey,
I have the same problem here : tried both special and trade command, same result, the ship accepts the command but stops after 30 secs, saying it's accomplished the task, but nothing mined, even with roids in system, and all equipment bought and installed (Ore Collector, Special commands and even the Drilling Laser).
As I can't find anyone who has succesfully tested it, I must assume its a bug and hope the devs are on it for the next patch.
Though, I don't think it's fair from the devs to leave us without even the beginning of an answer. A quick "ok, we screwed up, the AI mining is fu...ed up. We're working on it for next patch" would have been a minimum...

ill add my complaints to the mining commands
none of the commands DO anything, collect rocks, or mine minerals, or mine and trade minerals, all do nothing, they sit in a sector and idle. They dont scan asetroids, or mine/breakup asteroids that are already scanned. even if equipped with ore collectors and mobile mining laser. Seems like the entire MINING line of ships is useless, making the mining profession useless. Since combat missions have you seeking "no pilot"s @sectors, we can at least be thankful the BUILD part of the game works, FIGHT and TRADE are obviously broken, so i THINK i should have waited a few months before getting this game.

I'm having this problem too.
Saved up for 2 nights worth of SETA'ing to buy the Terran Mobile Mining Base-Ship. Was dissapointed to find TS couldnt dock directly. More so that my fleet of Split Mining TS didnt infact mine.
Same mining script bugging out and not collecting, scanning or breaking up of asteroids as everyone else is having. Kinda a letdown, heres hoping a future patch of 3rd party script can fix this problem.

Yes, I get problems with Mobile Miner too.
The problem is the Special Command Software/Mine Minerals/Mobile Mining is completely broken!
The Mine Minerals (i) States:
"Mine minerals and sell them to a station. Type of debris, amount to mine and station to sell minerals to can be changed." So, I understand this to be a "debris" miner and not an Asteroid miner, meaning you need only a regular laser ie Particle Accellerator Cannon (installed on TS) then the miner will use that to break up debris into rocks, which the auto miner will collect by itself. I also tried the software with a Mining System Gun installed too to see if it would go after big Asteroids, but no it did not. I double checked to make sure the laser and/or Mining System Gun was actually installed in main rear as well.
Then there is the pop up Mobile Mining input screen with:
- Mineral: Ore
- Sector : Three Worlds
- Amount : 442 Units
- Unload : Select a Station
- >>> Start Mining
The ship had the following software and gear:
- TS class Mercury
- Ore Collector
- Mineral Scanner
- Special Command Software
- Navigation Software
- Trade Mk 1 and 2
- Particle Accellerator Cannon
- Mining System Gun
What behaviour did the Miner perform while mining in Three Worlds Sector:
He traveled toward a debris cluster, circled it, then returned to start postion without mining anything. Then he proceeded to fly to Argon Prime and dock at the station I told it to dock at and was supposed to sell Ore to this factory. But, it couldn't because it had no Ore onboard to sell. But he travelled all the way there for nothing.
How dumb is that.
This script really needs some work to get it up and running. I hope Egosoft will fix this, as mining is my favorite thing to do in X3.

I also have troubles with mobile mining (already posted about this but probably on wrong forum).
TS ship (Mercury Tanker L bought in Omycron Lyrae), with all posible upgrades from Argon (Omycron Lyrae) and Teladi (PTNI Headquarters) docks and MDS installed.
Command "Collect rocks in sector" does nothing.
New X3TC command "Mine and Trade" issued in Scale Plate Green did nothing. Same command issued in Omycron Lyrae have sent ship to move through sectors on Omycron Lyrae -> Treasure Chest -> Black Hole Sun -> Xenon Sector 472 route. It has been destroyed in Xenon sector so I don't know it's final destination.

Fortunately, I have checked the issued before buying mining equipment myself. I see it doesnt work.
Has anybody found a solution yet?
Is it even worth breaking rocks yourself and sending your TS to collect them (comparing to profits from other activity, i.e. missions, trading)? Or is it better to skip the whole thing before devs (or somebody else) fixes the problem and go for more UTs....?

Hi,
Having problems here too.
Earlier in my game I attempted to set up a mobile miner to support my Ore + silicon complex which was constantly selling out of Ore. Did this in Reunion with great success.
Anyway, I give the mining ship (Mercury) all the software etc. it needed along with a conventional (not Mining) laser & set it on it's way using the Mine Mineral command assuming things were the same as in Reunion.
I'm not in the sector myself (Ore Belt) but I watch my new miner head out 'Moving to position' I go to it's cargo hold view & engage SETA & wait for some Ore to appear there. A few moments pass & 1 unit of Ore appears in it's cargo bay...hmm, that was quick...no 'Breaking Rocks' phase which used to take ages...(wthout the supporting 'Break Rocks' ships we appear to have lost!) must have been some fragments around already. Anyway, happy that the ship at least appears to be doing something I go back to the sector view and witness my mining ship proudly return to base, it's cargo hold brimming with 1 whole unit of Ore & stop working. Erm...Nice. lol.
So yes, as everyone else is reporting mobile mining appears to be somewhat broken. It worked like a charm in Reunion with the bonus pack installed. It's a real shame as mobile mining was a great option in Reunion to automate your money making without the high expense of buying your first factory. Also, as I used to use it, great for supporting your own Ore & Silicon mines to supplement their production.
I'm sure this will be addressed, just a shame it's not working as we'd all gotten pretty used to it from the bonus pack in Reunion.
Cheers,
Scoob.

ALL the main scripts are broken for me.
Mobile mining refuses to mine, no matter the platform or having mining beams on all turrets, it 'trys' then wanders of and sit in a station.
Collect rocks does the same it try's wanders about collecting nothing even with a ore collector.
Supply script refuses to work, it aborts when ordered to supply a ship with x good even if it's available in the same system, equip like etc is exactly the same, refuel doesn't work either although for some reason if a wing of fighters is all equiped with supply software a few will try to refuel.
Explore well we all know the issues with that one, sats galore etc.
UT and sector trading are borked.
Carrier Command software, all this appears to do is launch fighters which mill around a bit attack nothing then promptly dock, that is if they ever manage to launch at all because of the problem of wings refusing orders especially launch/dock.
A quickie patch fixing these alone would improve things alot.

In case anybody is still screwed here, I recall from X3:R that the player flying an M3 or so with a squad of TS' fitted with Special Commands and Ore Collectors worked out sorta. Player shoots large rocks making them smaller collectible rocks. TS' are given "Collect Rocks" order and swarm about, collecting the collectible bits that the player has made for them.
Many M6's/TL's also can use the MDS in at least one of their turret/main gun hardpoints.
As for the Mobile Mining Base Ship or whatever its called, try putting Transporter Devices on the MMBS and/or miner TS's, thus negating the need to dock at the MMBS.

Am I missing something?
I've got the 1.2.1 hotfix but it's still not working for me...
I've got a Demeter Miner with a Mobile Drilling System, Trade Command Software 1 + 2, Fight Command Software 1 + 2, Trading System Extension, Nav Command Software, Special Command Software, Mineral Scanner, Triplex Scanner, even a Jumpdrive!
If I use the Mine Minerals command (from the Special Command menu) in a system full of silicon and ore (already scanned) it just moves to a position a short distance away and then cancels the command. The mineral is set to "Ore" and the Unload location is an Ore mine I have in that sector.
If I use the Mine and Trade Minerals command instead causes it to fly to the nearest gate, go through, turn around and go back, turn around again and go through again ad infinitum.
If I smash the asteroids myself and then get it to Collect Rocks, this works, but i'd kind of like it to do the donkey work itself!

Re: Am I missing something?
My guess it that you can't have your MMers delivering a "product". Try setting it to unload at say a Laser Forge that *USES* Ore, not makes it. This logically makes more sense to me since you also can't sell Ore to an NPC Ore Mine. It's possible that a player owned Trading Station would work if Ore was already set as a Ware.Mythix wrote:...
