it means windows is blocking the game directory so it can't access it.
you need to adjust your permissions to allow it, or move the game elsewhere (especially out of program files)

a bit late to the party but if you right click and run as administrator then it will have the necessary permissions to do its thing in the Program Files directory.

The Plugin Manager was crashing every time I tried to launch X3 AP, so my thought was to remove the directory and re-add it. Well, now when I try to re-add it by selecting the AP exe, nothing is added. The only option is Terran Conflict. What am I doing wrong?

Just as I posted this I tried an experiment; click the links until something downloads. Yeah, I had to open up about 15 tabs just to get this to download the right file.

Cycrow, seriously dude, can you just make it so that it's on the first page of the sticky? Having to open up that many tabs just to get it to download is a little bit insane.

Plugin manager problems

Post by UpsilonCrux »

Hi Cycrow,

Thanks for your gargantuan work on the X games over the years.

I'm going back to AP for a playthrough, and I got the PM-Lite,

I'm having issues trying to install spk packages. I'm trying to install SalvageCommandsandNpcs.spk. When I try to select it to install, from the File>Add Package menu, the follwing screen pops up showing the already installed packages as well as the one I want, see below;

So I try to proceed and I get the following error;

Running AP 3.1, no previous plugin manager install present, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the PM-Lite to no avail. ANy help is appreciated

Thanks

i dong get it, why would you have to open so many tabs ?
just click on the download button on the first page and it'll download the installer file directly

Is there an updated version of the Linux/Mac command-line spktool and spkconvert programs available? The one on your home page does not compile cleanly; there is a fork at https://github.com/donbex/spkutils which compiles but identifies itself as

SPKTool V1.00 (SPK File Version 4.00) 12/06/2007 Created by Cycrow

(same version as the one on your home page, as far as I can tell) and thus cannot read current SPK files with have a newer file format number.

I have a similar problem like UpsilonCrux, with .spk. It shows me first that it is installed, and next, pop up a list of files that wasn't installed/found.

And every time I open pluginmanager, I have to install the same plugins.

Invisible Ships

Post by lilbrp »

Hi all, Needing some help.

I have added ships before (X3 Reunion). Recently I decided to come back to x universe, and bought X3 Albion and TC from Steam.

When I use the manager, everything seems to work fine, however... none of the ship skins appear in game. they are at shipyard, I can buy them, they will fly missions, carry cargo etc.

But they are invisible!!!! (I know.. might not be THAT bad a thing lol).

Help?

Incase it matters... manager 1.47 lite, scripts: advanced jumpdrive, collect wares from sector, tc rock maker, universal buy/sell locator.

I added a bunch of ships, but only tried the

Federation Raven
Firefly

Both invisible, appear to take up no space when looking at them in space, but otherwise appear functional (haven't tried shooting from them)

the ships have to be installed in both TC and AP

though there can occasionally be conflicts with ships installed.

hope this helps

First off I realise this is the TC/AP forums but the old Plugin manager has problems with Windows 7)

I've just done a clean re-install of X3 Reunion and have been trying to get Plugin Manager to function.

So far with no other mods/scripts installed there have been no errors like I experienced before HOWEVER .xsp ships are showing installed/enabled in PIM but NOT showing up in the in-game spawn list regardless of whether the PIM is closed before launching game or not.

Anyone have a solution?

i assume the plugin manager has correctly identified the game as X3: Reunion ?

also check in the game directory to see if the files are getting generated correctly

Thanks for the reply.

Yea the Manger has Identified X3 Reunion [fully updated]

There is a 'Plugin Manger' Folder within the game directory which has a 'Saves' folder and PluginManager.dat

One thing i've noticed is that Plugin Manager does NOT show up in the "Select Mod Package' option in the X3 Reunion Launcher is this relevant?

Currently installed in C:\My Games\Egosoft\X3 Reunion
C:\My Games\Egosoft\X Plugin Manager

My Specs are:

Windows 7 x64
Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.33GHz
4GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6800

Thanks for any help!

Cannot Select AP Folder

Post by Braekyn »

I used Steam to get TC and AP - and the .exe's are in the same directory - but when I try to select the AP .exe for the directory selection, it still counts it as TC because the .exe is not in the addon folder - moving it there breaks the game though.

Help?

Use the pull-down near the top of the PM window to change to AP.

Do this place my saves games somewhere else? or backup of the orginal save games? cause I think I lost mine,
I've installed spk's with the manager and then I closed the manager down, and played the game without opening the manager, and then I tried using the manager again, where I startede the game with the mananager, and all my save games seems to have revertede back to when I used the manager to start the game, I can't seem to figure out where it placed the orginal save games

Im playing albion prelude with xrm + no steam .exe

always backup saves, (usually just copy to different location)
