X4: FOUNDATIONS - Release date, prices and more

I think I'll wait for the physical copy as usual. As much as I like buying games through Steam, I have the rest of the series as physical copies (barring AP unless you count the superbox) so it would feel wrong not to.
It'll also give me some time to juice up my rig. I don't think my current graphics card has enough grunt.

Great news! The release date is way earlier than I expected. I took a risk and pre-ordered the game before the Linux version is 100% confirmed.
Hopefully everything goes well from the launch and we would get yet another great game from Egosoft. The released videos and screenshots looks very promising at least.

Haven't you guys learned your lesson with pre-orders from X Rebirth? The trailers look nice, but until we see how the game actually is, patience is key. I'm sorry, I love the X3 games, but the Rebirth disappointment was too big, so no way I would preorder.

I think the better question is have Egosoft learned from what happened with Rebirth? And many of us think they have.
As has been said, no-one is forcing anyone to pre-order.

Is VAT included in the canadian Steam price? The German store price includes 19% tax.

STEAM says it does, though it indicates that the VAT is already included in the price shown, which still puts the ego store vastly more expensive for some reason.

Id perfer to buy it on the ego store as it gives them a larger cut, but at the same time the price is almost $20 higher in comparison to STEAM which is super odd, usualy you hear discrepancy like that on shifty resale sites like G2A, where say STEAM has a price at 50 day one, G2A has it for 10 day one as an example.

Even with a 19% tax, whats putting the price higher on the Ego store is that the Ego store only sells in Euro, while STEAM adjusts the price value to Cad, but if you we're to do a direct conversion from EURO to CAD, the EURO price is far higher, and that wouldnt be includeing any tax, meaning it would be even higher than what ive seen so far.

Can't exactly be spending almost $100 on one game so I may have to go with the STEAM store instead.

Steam price all their games in USD, but then convert price from USD to local currency of Steam user.
I'm not sure if VAT is included in USD base or added to converted price.

What I learned from X Rebirth is that Egosoft work on their games for ages improving stuff, making a Linux version, encouraging modding community, until the games are good. Even if they could have taken their money from Rebirth and jumped ship. So I'm paying now for all those hours of fun with what X Rebirth and X3 became in the end. Pretty decent games. From what I've seen in the videos, they have learned from Rebirth, so they will release something playworthy, and in addition I believe no matter what happens at release they will keep working on the game until it's pretty good.

Click on your name at the top right corner of the forum, choose User Control Panel from the list that drops down, go to the fourth tab called "Egosoft Settings", then the second sub-tab called "Game Registration". The Steam link option is there.

I ordered the collectors edition from the egosoft shop. Does anybody know how long it takes until I receive the key for steam? I ordered half an hour ago and did not receive anything yet except of the paypal confirmation.

Didn't realize you get the steam-keys straight away...

I've done the 'update from steam' thing, but nothing happens.
I've got no keys in any email, am I doing something wrong ? (nothing in junk email)

If you bought from the egosoft shop you should have received a key by mail to activate the game in steam. after activating the key you can click on update via steam to link it to your forum account. I sent an email this morning to order@egosoft.com with the paypal confirmation attached and got an answer with my steam key a few hours later. I also provided an additional email address in case it is because of GMX.

I have just preordered "X4: Foundations digital Collector's Edition" via Steam,
but I just want to confirm whether it includes the base game, or does the collector's edition just include the future DLC's plus additional digital content?

Reasoning for this: Some of the information shown makes this feel uncertain. (This info is as of my current posting time.)

• the opening post does not list that it includes the base game (as a bullet point, like other games do).
• the Steam X4: Foundations Collector's Edition Content page says it only requires about 1gb,
  • plus it says: "Downloadable Content: This content requires the base game X4: Foundations on Steam in order to play.", which links back to purchase the base game.
• the Steam X4: Foundations page says it requires about 12gb
• also after buying it, the Steam Library does not show a "CD Key" option under Links.

I hope it is all fine, but could someone just confirm whether the collector's edition includes the base game, please? Thanks.

So many big company AAA games "Collectors" edition have busts, cards, posters, and all kinds of nick nacks....but FAR to many don't actually include the GAME ITSELF.

I didn't pre-order X Rebirth, and actually waited until earlier this year (or late last year, I forget) to actually buy it.

I have however, just pre-ordered the X4 collector's edition from Egosoft's own shop. I must be crazy!
Steam key all done, just waiting now.

Signed. There are only two games I'll preorder, and one game I'll get hyped for. X is to both of those.

The amount of time and enjoyment I've derived from the previous X games gives Egosoft my support. At this point, it'd take a lot for Egosoft to completely lose it.

Also, just saying, when assembling a team of marines, I'd make them ALL Borons given the chance. Because if every single one of them walks around in a mechanically-assisted reverse diving bell, the up-armored bio-mechanical horrors their marines wear are probably TERRIFYING.
