It depends what you need to create your evil corporate empire. Owning own stations and ships is already possible. The Player HQ also makes it possible to build own ships, whereby build means you can reverse engineer ships to get their blue prints and build than these shiptypes. With some small modifications of the by djrygar named HQ.xml it's possible to decrese production times and requirements as well as making it possible to produce weapons and stations with the HQ. I think apricotslice did a few of those HQ modifications.

Cycrow's Cheatpackage would be my guess.

Cool, I'll have to give that a go. Illuminatus mentioned that you can make it construct weapons (and equipment?) as well; Is this sort of modification easy to do? Also, where is the HQ.XML located? xD

Eyeing a few shiny mods for amplifying and filling out the vanilla experience. Currently favoring XRM and likely a couple extras like EEQD.

I am curious however, on a couple things...
~With XRM (and a couple of the compatible others) I assume the plots are all fully functioning?

~Are there any better approaches to maximizing the vanilla feel than XRM?

~Any other mod enhancements I haven't seen yet?

~Any extra suggestions to help the game feel vibrant and well-rounded?

1. Yes. All are available.

2. Better? Thats too subjective. There are different ways of doing that. What do you want?

3. First one needs to know what you HAVE seen in order to answer that question.

4.I would suggest something like IR, RRF, or MBRR.

Thanks for the response.

2. I think I meant more complete and mature, but thus far all my review has basically answered my own question and XRM is pretty much unrivaled in scope.

3. Stupid logic. I blame working graveyard shift. I couldn't answer your implied question directly because of my own vagueness! :P

4. I actually wasn't sure which bits are in or not in XRM. Again, I blame graveyard shift because I keep looking at what is in and/or compatible with XRM yet keep forgetting 5 minutes later. Now I have to figure out what MBRR is though. Back to index I go...

Here's hoping the best of the suggestions are poured into the Rebirth batter. :D

I worked graveyard for 8 years. I feel your pain!

XRM is pretty much compatible with everything with a few exceptions that are explained in the OP. MBRR stands for Military Base Response Revamp which is a script no longer under development. It has a few bugs (like every other script/mod in this game).

IR is the one that continues to be developed. RRF is not being developed but is a great addition also. You cant go wrong with any of those three.

Seems like XRM+IR is just about a perfect game, assuming my assumptions are correct and what I read/gathered holds true in game. In a sense of enhanced vanilla, at least. Coming from regular group activities in EVE Online, I want's mah big fleet battles! :D

Mostly installed already, some download/install hiccups but those questions are for individual mod threads. :(

Thank you for your assistance. :)

What are the "Must have mods/scripts" ?

Post by marksl »

Hi everyone.

I am over whelmed with all the new scripts. There are a huge number to choose from. What are as my title asks, the Must have mods/scripts?

"Apart from the bonus package"

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,

It pains me waiting for shipyards to offer ships in the 'L' class with full shields, is their a Mod that ensures the 'L' is always available?

Havent had any luck searching so far.

Novice considering mods!

Post by Darkfox3889 »

Hey everyone,

Just bought X3: terran conflict after watching some gameplay footage and am very excited to start playing!
Was a huge FreeSpace 2 and Freelancer fan back in the day.
Been looking for a good 3d space flight game ever since!

Anyway I was looking around the boards here, and am very interested in the X3 Rebalance Mod.

I just wanted to ask your opinions on whether I should play through with the game vanilla first, or can I jump right into XRM without missing out on anything?
I am quite overwhelmed by all the accronyms related to the game at the moement.
If there are any other good mods I should check out please let me know! =)

Thanks in advance for any input and advice!
- Evan =D

As the name suggests the X3 Rebalance Mod totally changes the game's balance. Additionally it adds a lot of new stuff like ships and sectors. If you haven't played the vanilla game then you might not appreciate, notice or even understand some parts of the new balancing. Also some players regard the vanilla game already as 'hard to get in'. Adding more features might not help to simplify this.
Apart from that, I think the fact that the XRM was released only a month ago, but its topic already has over 100 pages speaks for itself.

Please help a newbie :)

Could you guys please help me?

I am new to X3:TC, only played it briefly, just flew around for a few hours. I now finally plan to now play it properly.

People say I should play it "vanilla" first, but I would like some "must have" mods to improve weak points with the original gameplay. I found these and I hoped you could just look over and say if it would be good for a first play?

1) Bonus Package
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=239498

2) Ship Rebalance Mod
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=271003

3) Jobs v4
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=294532

4) Enhanced Equipment Spawner
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=298400

5) No notoriety loss from hitting jumpgates
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=240858

6) Free Jump - Credits - v1.4
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=223425

7) Race Response Fleets
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=233908

That's it. The 2,3,4 seem to go together, and the free jump is just because I'm impatient. The others all look to be a straight forward improvement. Besides letting me know that this would be good for a first play through, I also wonder if there are any mods to improve the graphics? I have a new PC so I would quite like any super high res mods or anything like that.

Thanks in advance!

Jobs v4 is broken. Use jobs v3 located in the same link. Personally I would recommend XRM over SRM. Its a bit more involved but includes SRM plus a lot more. You can read about it in the main thread. If you do go the XRM route then you wont want to use jobs v3 or the equipment spawner as something similiar is included. Everything else is compatible. I would also suggest adding SMART or MARS (or both)

You bet. Be sure to read the installation instructions for XRM and ask questions if you are uncertain about something. Those of us using XRM will be glad to help.

Hi again, just installing now and downloading the mods. I have almost everything, but I'm not sure what SMART is. What is it's full name? (I just found MARS)

Also, when it says, "it is recommended that you install the XRM on a fresh installation of X3TC" does that just mean no mods, or does it mean not even patches?

Thanks :)

Smart Turrets

A "fresh installation" is another way of saying vanilla install. So you will need a fully patched game. Having the bonus pack installed or MARS or SMART or anything else on your list (except jobs and SRM) is fine as well. It wont mess anything up with the XRM install.

Just watch out for those "big-eyed beans from venus."
