Pre-ordered the Collectors edition already!

Haven't you guys learned your lesson with pre-orders from X Rebirth? The trailers look nice, but until we see how the game actually is, patience is key. I'm sorry, I love the X3 games, but the Rebirth disappointment was too big, so no way I would preorder.

I am glad to here there is a release date. Just two questions though.

1.) What is the likelihood that the System Requirements are going to change?

2.) Is there any information about the release date for the Linux version?

1) If we knew the answer to that then we'd also have a good idea what they'd be and would change them now! That said, the minimum requirements, those are probably fairly stable; the recommended have more of a chance of changing if anything is going to.

2) No information yet.

Two questions:

1) Will Linux be day-1 release?

2) Is the collectors edition limited or will we be able to buy it well after the initial release? (I'm assuming that since it's all digital, the collectors edition will always be an option, but you know what they say about when you "assume".)

1) Again, no information yet. Personally, though, I think it's unlikely to be day-1. That's just an opinion, though, not an official statement.

2) The digital Collectors Edition will certainly be available after release, but as per the announcement, the pre-order price is discounted so it will be slightly more expensive then.

Since Linux can do 98% of the stuff I used Win10 for I am learning to live without the other 2%. I know Egosoft has a very good history of supporting Linux and I can wait a little longer to run the game natively. I'll hold off buying until I know when I'll be able to play.

It's not just that you're taking a huge leap of faith given what happened with XR.
You're also buying something that, given Egosofts history with performance, is almost guaranteed to require a major HW purchase in the first 12 months.

Personally, I'm yet undecided. There's a steam refund and if the game turns out to be less that what's expected it's easy to get the money back.
But if the game is good (gameplay) I will probably still have to update my PC.

On the other hand I've already bought Assetto Corsa Competizione and sys. reqs. for that aren't that different from this.
But, I'm affraid this is not a 75€ purchase, it's a 750€ purchase....

Yes, I learned that ES is the most dedicated developer I've every bought a game from. They have continued to update and enhance their games with free updates, listened to community feedback, and remained very positive towards their fans despite massive amounts of negativity lobbied against them. And I love X Rebirth, with my total hours played now exceeding both X3:TC and X3:AP combined!

While I'm normally against pre-orders (especially digital pre-orders) in general, on reflection of how great ES has been over the years, I'm making an exception. Going to pre-order now.

The dynamic economy and factions sounds really interesting.

I understand certain negativity in this forum, perhaps better described as 'apprehensive' of past experiences. But for me, If this is X3 with bells and whistles, I'd be over the moon!

But i see that EGO does what i always wanted from Rebirth so i decided to buy Collectors and preorder it.

I spent about 500 hours in XR, even though most of that time was my stations making money while I was AFK, but IMHO and for me it was one of the best in series. I have to add though, that I didn't play it as much right after start, which made a lot of ppl angry, but with modded co-pilot and all the most recent updates and additions.

Click on your name at the top right corner of the forum, choose User Control Panel from the list that drops down, go to the fourth tab called "Egosoft Settings", then the second sub-tab called "Game Registration". The Steam link option is there.

I ordered the collectors edition from the egosoft shop. Does anybody know how long it takes until I receive the key for steam? I ordered half an hour ago and did not receive anything yet except of the paypal confirmation.

Didn't realize you get the steam-keys straight away...

I've done the 'update from steam' thing, but nothing happens.
I've got no keys in any email, am I doing something wrong ? (nothing in junk email)

In that case there is something to consider (regardless of when one does a purchase decision).

If you bought from the egosoft shop you should have received a key by mail to activate the game in steam. after activating the key you can click on update via steam to link it to your forum account. I sent an email this morning to order@egosoft.com with the paypal confirmation attached and got an answer with my steam key a few hours later. I also provided an additional email address in case it is because of GMX.

The biggest sin of X-Rebirth was that it wasn't X4.
The biggest quality of X4 is that (hopefully) it isn't X-Rebirth
