Cycrow:
I am having a problem with the plug in manager, the problem is with me rather than the program. I confess to being a complete Novice as regards mods etc.
During the initial, install Where is the "start menu directory" you refer to for the for the Plug in manager? Or do you mean my PC's start menu literally?
I know the answer is going to be obvious, but I can't figure it out, and I have tried all sorts of locations.
Your help would be appreciated.
Shaun.

Is this during the install of the plugin manager ?
this is where you select where in the start menu you want the plugin manager shortcuts to appear. This is your computer/users start menu folder, or in a sub directory of that.
also make sure you are running the latest version, it should be 1.47
if AP is still not appearing, you may have to add it manually

Hey Cycrow,
SOLVED
Long story short I had issues pointing to X3AP.exe. Itried your advice of deleting pluginmanager.dat and it didn't work: well I did a search for pluginmanager.dat on my PC and it returned 5 additional instances of that file. After deleting them all I was able to select the correct X3AP directory as desired.
So your advice worked, I just happened to chase a goose before finding the flock.

Original post is as follows:
It's been a long time since I've played X3 and I had that itch, so I installed x3 ap and your plugin manager 1.47.
It was working great at first, but somehow it forgot that AP exists. When I try to point it to the X3AP.exe it only recognizes X3TC.exe
I tried reinstalling both the x3 gamefiles and your plugin tool, but it persists in ignoring the x3ap.exe. Luckily I haven't lost my gamesaves or anything to this, but hopefully we can get it fixed. What additional information can I provide you in order to kill this bug?
EDIT:
After looking in the history to see if anyone else had this issue i did find a couple of instances where this occurred.
Your response I'd like to highlight:
Cycrow
I'm not sure if it is relative but is it possible that there is a registry error causing the Plugin manager to ignore the X3AP.exe?
Also my situation almost identically matches that of Azazael back in 2014:

Azazeal's problem was solved with your above advice, but mine seems to be more persistent. I will continue to troubleshoot and advise if I find a solution.
SOLVED: See first paragraph.
Cheers,

Also I'd like to add that deleting the file pluginmanager.dat from mydocuments did not correct the issue. It probably wont detect the 2nd copy of the game, as it uses the registery and a few common directories to find the game, so its likly the 2nd copy wont be found by this.
But you can add any manually any number of directories and control them all individually."

I also followed his line of reasoning and tried out the 2.12 (old) version. your response was this:Hello all. I'll keep it short and to the point. I cannot target x3ap when I choose directory for plugin manager. I can target x3tc and install scripts there but not the other one. I used to be able to switch one for the other but it will not give me the option anymore since I reinstalled. Win 8 steam download. PM lite v 1.47
Cycrow
And here is exactly where I have an issue: I can't add them manually. It completely ignores my X3AP selection and instead chooses X3TC instead. Normally and previously it would initialize both the X3TC and X3AP directories.the 2.12 version is actually a much older version before it was remade. It only supports X2 and X3 Reunion.
1.47 is the version you should be using.
you could try deleting the data file, its in My Documents/Egosoft/pluginmanager.dat
then when you load the plugin manager again, just manually add the games if it doesn't detect them
Azazeal's problem was solved with your above advice, but mine seems to be more persistent. I will continue to troubleshoot and advise if I find a solution.

Glad I was able to stoke the fire a little. I took the liberty of uploading these .dat to my google drive; here is the link:CyCrow: not entirely sure what was going on, but it sounds like something in the dat file in the TC directory was causing problems with it recognising AP, not sure why that would be the case, but at least gives me something to look at
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id= ... sp=sharing
Hope this helps! I am not sure which one it is, but the path to my game is C:\Users\Ahddib\Desktop\X3AP\x3 terran conflict\addon if that path is in the configuration.dat it's possibly related

I read on a previous page a solution to this but it just gives me errors when I do it, when modifying a ship file in the package creator, I have the issue with the laser groups not displaying what the lasers actually are - and shield, missile groups as well. I tried the solution of adding the game directory to the package creator, but now whenever I click on the button to customise the ship I get the following message
"Unhandled exception has occured in your applicatoin. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately.
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
Cant say I understand what that means, if I... remove the directory Ive added its fine

Do you take donations? I don't usually offer that sort of thing and I can't give much but your scripts and especially the manager have kept me playing x3 for hundreds if not thousands of hours when I otherwise might have stopped out of frustration. The fact that after all this time you're still updating and adding features is amazing, kdos to you for all your hard work

Here are two problems to report:
1. I was just trying to use the Package Creator V1.30 with my X3:AP XRM 1.30d installation and I chose File, New, Import Ship From Mod. If I now choose the cat file from XRM 1.30d part 2, I get the correct ship IDs, but only "ReadText" entries in the column "Ship Text".

You should also check the spelling on some words... I'm not an english native speaker, but "Compatability" and "Dependacies" hurts my eyes.
2. X-Plugin Manager V1.51: If I choose "Help, About", there is an exception thrown: The font Comic Sans MS doesn't support italic.

if you have XRM installed in a game directory, then it would be better to use the Import from VFS option instead, this will load all files from the game directory, rather than just the ones from the mod file.
also make sure you have the game directories selected in the options as well, so it can load text from these locations
