System configurations where the game DOES run properly

Post by Hob Anagerik »

Hi,

Just curious as to what systems Egosoft tested this on where they didn't get some of the issues that we are experiencing. It's all very well requesting DXDiags from us, which we are all quite happy to share I am sure.

How about Egosoft supplying their DXDiags so we can see what system doesn't show these issues?

That would be interesting indeed. It could save also some reputation for egosoft + maybe help the community to find fixes of there own.

Plus there would be more eyes i.e. the community, to look at their configurations and look for common items.

No, I know. Unfortunately the lack of information can then only lead to speculation. And in my case there could only be a limited number of possibilities: one is that they pinched some kit from the NSA to test it on, or they knew there would be performance problems at release as all their kit did it too.

why would you want the DxDiag output of an X-box?

Alright. Have played about 5 hours now and had one graphical bug and one bug of controles not responding for save game. Game runs smooth except for getting in and out of the cockpit (gitters a bit). Character models look horrific though.

Settings:
1600x900 anything lower and i couldnt read the menus on my tv (tried 1920x1080 and rins just as well)
Fullscreen on
8x aa
Vsync on
Shadows on
Shader quality high
Soaa on
Lod 100
View 75
Effect distance 50

System:
Intel i7-2700k
Intel ssd
16GB ram
Msi 560ti twin frozer
Win 7 sp1 64bit
42 inch plasma screen max res 1920x1080p

I run everything on stock settings.

Ps ill check the settings in a minute and update.

I've played over 4 hours and having no issues graphic or lag wise. Had 1 crash in that timeframe when i jumped out of a highway otherwise running smoothing. I turned Vsync off and Soaa off, otherwise i'm at 1920x1080 and no issues or lag, i feel like game is running 40-60fps but i don't haev an FPS display right now.

Intel I7 2.67 overclocked to 3.62ghz
GTX 680 Nvidia card with 2gig on board ram
running on an SSD hard drive
12Gig ram
windows 7 64 bit
Asus Xonar Essense STX sound card

and of course i've done a lot of maintenance and optimizing to my PC. and i currently turn on game booster in background for a bit extra help and i've been running game fine!

No doubt some bugs though which i'm sure will be fixed in upcoming patches but those are non-graphical related.

My system specs are in my signature so won't type them out, but I have been messing about with all the settings, putting on low with lod etc at 50 and playing in windowed mode at 1280x1024 resolution has given me the best performance, 20-30fps in space and 15-20 fps on stations.

System usage in game:
50-60% cpu usage on all 4 cores, GPU usage at 80% (reading from MSI afterburner), and Ram usage is 1.7Gb

This is very strange tbh.
System: Intel Core i7-4790k, 16Gb DDR3 2400Mhz G.Skill Trident X RAM, Nvidia GTX1070.

The problem here is that your "fine" may not be another persons "fine". It's subjective. I was hoping for some details from Egosoft really. I think their recommended specs are a bit optimistic considering even high end rigs have problems. The only way to make this less subjective would be if the game had an equivalent of a 'timedemo' or set path that the ship runs through and prints high/low/average frames per second and other information and dumps this to disk when done, hopefully with some kind of checksum at the end to stop tampering from ne'er do wells out there.

Settings:

Vsync on
Soaa on
Lod 60
View 80
Explosion 80

System:
Intel i7-2600k

Good fps (not in the interior of a station), character model are very bad, the menu (not hud at the center) need more functionality, map menu need to be completly redone and open instantly, the bug with the energy cell of course...,
Otherwise the game is very good, cheer egosoft.

How did you measure "good fps"?

Side question, is there anyone that isn't getting good performance, with a decent system, that also have the game installed on an SSD?

PSU: Corsair Memory 1200AX PSU
Motherboard: Asus P9X79 Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core i7 3930K C2 3.2GHz @ 4.50GHz
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14-2011
RAM: 32GB (4x8GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Jet Black, PC3-17066 (2133)
Graphics: 2 x 4GB EVGA GTX 680 FTW
HDD C: 500GB (1x Seagate 500GB SATA II 7200RPM) [OS/Programms]
HDD D: 1TB (2x Seagate 500GB SATA II 7200RPM) [Games]
HDD F: 4TB (2x Seagate 2TB SATA III 7200RPM) [Recordings]
Displays: 3x Samsung SyncMaster 2043BW 20'' (1680x1050)
Mouse: Razer Naga
Keyboard: Logitech G19
Joystick: Saitek X52 Pro
Wheel: Logitech Driving Force GT
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

I get between 15 and 30 FPS at 5040x1050, and between 30-50 at 1680x1050. At no point is ether my CPU or GPU over taxed.

Edit: In my opinion a good FPS would be a relative stable 60, an OK FPS would be a stable 40-45, a tolerable FPS would be a stable 30, however the FPS is not remotely stable and that's probably the biggest problem.

Edit 2: For some perspective, Battlefield 4 runs 50-60 FPS on my system at Ultra at 5040x1050 with no AA.

Yes, and I just realised my sig doesn't reflect this!
I run the game from a 240GB Intel 520 SSD connected to a HighPoint 620 controller. A twin of this runs the OS.

Hob take it or leave it. Fps is a useless measurement as well. Since 60fps with artifacts is worse than 40 fps without in some peoples opinion. The most important thing is player experience.

I'm looking forward to the inevitable Totaslbiscuit WTF video. He runs SLI Titans on a Sandy Bridge E rig so that should be very interesting.

He said in a previous video that he was really looking forward to this game so you can be sure he asked for review code. I'm guessing that he didn't get it or his video may have already been out now. But then he was at Blizzcon so that may have delayed things.

Funny... it is playable on my iMac 3,4 GHz intel Core i7 - 32 GB RAM - GeForce GTX 680MX with Parallles 9 virtualisation running Windows 7.

It is playable in 2560x1440. Just had some dogfights with pirates in a medium mission at a station location.

But this is not "high framerate" I am pretty much used to 20-30 FPS with those kind of setup. X-Rebirth performance is not acceptable when there are hundreds off asteroids in the display. But still... Just wanted to tell that it runs playable on an iMac Monster like that.

I did not boot the machine to windows and tried it native. Usually stuff goes 50%-100% faster then.

Hi there.

I really doubt that the game runs smoothly on above configuration..

With a 680, an i7 870 and 8Go of Ram, all of them highly overclocked and watercooled, and running on an SSD, I never go (or really really rarely) on the 60 fps cap. The game is generally running between 25 and 40 fps.

(1080p, settings to maximum. The adaptive sync is enabled so I can see easily when the game comes to 60 fps)

If anyone gives me an easy way to measure the fps in rebirth i'll add the fps i get with previously mentioned system and settings. Its by no means high end and runs great.
