No promises, especially as we still don't have one in the office yet, but obviously it's something we would be interested in. It's also something that could potentially be added in a patch if we decided it wasn't possible in the initial release.

Great!
If you'll added this feature i'll buy an Oculus, sure.
X serie is the best space-sim game.... and with virtual reality, i think, it could be the definitive experience.

thanks for answer sir. :)

I would like to upgrade from a single monitor to multi display triple, or this Oculus could be a cheaper alternative.

i think that 3 monitors were best things before Oculus.
Now (if it work well) with virtual reality we can do a step in the future, it's a dream comes true.
The X serie is my preferite sim. and with Oculus ..... ehhhhhhhhh.... i'm very exicited!!!!!!

The Occulus is not currently a consumer ready product (and there is no current estimate as to when it will be consumer ready) but would appear to employ similar concepts (albeit different technical implementation) to other head tracking VR solutions (e.g. Vuzix, Worldviz, etc).

[EDIT]TrackIR would appear to be a head/face tracking but not strictly speaking a VR product.[/EDIT]

closest to a VR rather than to a simple headtracking.

Carmack and Newell are excited for this product, yesterday valve has updated TF2, next month UDK'll support Oculus. i think that we are at a crossroads.
I never try it, perhaps in Rome next May.... i hope. :)

If you mean the cheapo bodge job described, that is more head-tracking using a modified pair of glasses. VR needs more of a surround headset than a pair of glasses I believe - I could be wrong though.

Thats why I have gone with a 3 monitor setup with 32 inch flat screens... it only cost a bit.. if I went with 20 inch monitors it would only be a few hundred dollars and I get practically guarenteed results.

I think I must be the only person not excited by the OR. Its a cool piece of kit, don't get me wrong, but imo it will be too immersive. By that I mean it will be annoying to take yourself out of the game to do simple things like take a sip from your drink, check your phone, have a chat with another person in the room, take/make notes, go to the bathroom, etc. Plus it then relies on you being able to touchtype since you can no longer see the keyboard or anything around you.

oh yes, i tink it'll be very immersive, this is the great.
I know that i'll can't speak with my girlfriend (gorgeous :D ) or respond to phone etc etc.
mainly i play in night, 10 pm to 3 am, when my family sleeps, and if i have to drink or go to bathroom with or without oculus it's the same thing, i've to put the game on pause.

For keyboard...mmm.. this is a problem, a real problem, in fact in all videos they use a joypad.

For X-rebirth i'll use a Cyborg F.L.Y. and a razer nostromus, i know they like my pants pockets. :D

I read a review of the developer version and they are saying the low resolution is obviously apparent. I would definitely wait until the consumer version comes out.

Correct me if im wrong.. but are they not attempting to make a slightly transparent mode, for when you do want to look at the keyboard etc? would be nice if you look down and it becomes transparent, look back up and it goes back to full view..

Would solve some issues with having to do other things.

@ DaMuncha: That would have been best if mentioned somewhere here perhaps. You need to ask yourself what their commercial return for doing so might be, though.
