XU Forum Quest - Round 1 - [Finished]

Hello, Community!

Welcome to the X-Universe Forum Quest, let us introduce this little project.

We would like to offer you a competition while you wait for X Rebirth to be released and thus play X3: Terran Conflict probably for the 1000th time. We're quite sure that you know the universe you're playing in by now and so we have come up with some riddles for you to solve. Your knowledge of the sectors, ships, stations as well as the history of X will be put to the test in this competition.

This competition is not just to pass the time until X Rebirth is released. We have great prizes for the winners and for one "lucky loser". So be sure to take part. Even if you don't win, you might be the lucky one that gets the special prize. Ensure that you read the rules below. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. We look forward to seeing how much you know about the X universe.

Rules:
  • All registered users of the EGOSOFT forums are permitted to participate with the exception of EGOSOFT staff members, administrators and members of the XU Forum Quest group.
  • Answers are only considered valid if submitted via email to [no more mails please] including your forum nick. Note that you should inform us if you change your nick, otherwise you risk losing your score.
  • Please use XU Forum Quest Round x (where x is the number of the current round) as the subject for your email entry.
  • If multiple entries are submitted by the same user then only the first one received will be considered valid.
  • If multiple users share the same score, those who have participated in more rounds will be ranked higher. Should both scores be the same, then the users will share the same rank.
  • If a user posts a solution to a question, right or wrong, they will be excluded from that round and the answer will be removed.
  • A 'Lucky Loser' is to be randomly selected from the users that have participated in at least 42% of the rounds and who is not ranked among the top three users.
Prizes:
  • The winner receives a signed copy of X Rebirth and Steam X-Superbox
  • 2nd place gets a steam copy of both X Rebirth and X-Superbox
  • 3rd place gets Steam X-Superbox
  • The Lucky Loser will also receive a steam copy of X Rebirth

This time you have some good prizes :!:
Hope this pleases the majority of X-pilots.

I have guessed the first two answers already.
A little stuck on the third.

Hey ! I was the first to reply :!:
Any prizes for that :?:

I have no interest in entering your competition as I have no wish to be further involved with steam, even if it is for a free game!
Same goes for rebirth in general; get it on disk without a need for steam or you can shove rebirth too! :P

Participation is by no means mandatory. Still the first price is a signed copy of Rebirth, means a boxed version, as its kinda hard to sign the steam version.

But again, participation is as much free as not participating.

Are we right to assume all questions are based on an unmodified universe?

Thank you Ketraar, it seems to be like getting blood from a stone getting info out of you guys! Yet you only partly answer my fear!
Yes boxed game, great! :D
Signed by a great team, ( I assume you mean actually signatures? Or am I missing something? ) great!
But will I be able to play the game without a steam account? Just like the others? Is it too much to expect a straight answer? :P

Apologies X2, I will cease and try to curb my frustration! :P

It's the usual problem: Either no one knows or those, who know something, aren't allowed to say it. ;) Having said that this topic is about the XU Forum Quest, not about X Rebirth. Although X Rebirth copies are prizes of this quest, it's very unlikely that you'll get any pieces of information about it here, which haven't be published in one of the X Rebirth topics yet.

Edit: corrected typo.

How many rounds are planned for this? 42% is a very odd number, after all ^^

Every 2 weeks a new round until Rebirth release (and don't ask me when that is, I don't know :-P)
rwhiteruff wrote:Are we allowed to discuss the clues and answers on the forums here? :)
Well if you mean that you can help others or get help from others to solve the clue than I'd say no. But if I was one of those that knows the answer I would not want to share it with an opponent or other way help him/her to win the prize instead of me, would I?

Feedback and general discussion is allowed, as long as standard forum behaviour (like staying on topic) are maintained.

Enjoy the quests :-)

Nonsense, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question (life, universe, everything). :D

Someone or someones at the office have a fondness for the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

Somehow I don't think they're going to tell many rounds there shall be because if it's a new round every 2 weeks and we know how many rounds there are.....then we'd know what week X-R gets released. :P

Great initiative to keep people busy from flooding of speculations the X Rebirth topic :D
And those questions are quite hard for those like me who haven't played for a while, and unmodded. Guess I now have an excuse for reinstalling the game and doing some "research".

Let's imagine that the game comes out around march / april, that makes 7 months with 1 round every 2 weeks, it makes somrthing like 15 rounds. Add to that 1 point per round + 3 per question and you have enough to allow people to forfeit the parts they find hard.
SCUM : They may exceed you in number, but not in value.

I would just like to say, I was looking at an online map that had images of the sectors to figure out the first question, and the very first one I picked had that station in the 2nd question in it... Hahaha

Awww not fair. I'm on holiday and we all know you'll never win if you miss a round. Ha, I'll enter for the others when I get home anyway, for fun.
