That wont work according to Cycrows statements, as the boarding will now be less dependend to chance, but more relatet to skill, as in the amount/skill of marines you use in the process. And THAT is IMO an improvement.

True, but during my testing marine losses still varied between re-loading - maybe this has changed since RC3. I've boarded over three hundred ships successfully in my main game and most of those were done using an M6. If I wish to use an M6 now I have to have a caravan of TPs carrying more marines behind me - improvement? Not in my book.
I'm with Rednoahl and qwizzie here - the fact that M6s are now useless for boarding is a huge letdown for me, and hardly something I would call an improvement (since when is taking something away an improvement)?
Moreso taht this "feature" is not really documented anywhereand there was no way to know about it beforehand...
I'm not even going to mention the "improved" boarding of Xenon ships... 40 Marines, just great.
What's this about being able to buy 2nd hand ships?
I have been playing since at least version 2.0 and have been offered 2nd hand ship all the way through.
As for the rest of the update,I have not played it much yet,but I am happy with what I have seen.
Thankyou again Egosoft
It's a bug introduced to the beta release. It has been fixed with the official release. If you upgrade from beta like I do, you will have to wait a little bit for the old second hand ship missions expired before it is working again.

It sure can be, specially when it makes sense. I mean if one can board Bigships with an M6, well that seams to me personally like something wrong. M7M need to make some sense so having it harder to board with M6 (note that its not impossible ) is IMO a good choice
A specific Q about the gateless sector flight commands... what specifically has changed? Because the return home into a gateless sector doesn't work, buy/sell ware into & out-of a gateless sector doesn't work, buy & sell ware for best price doesn't work and "move to" command into or out of a gateless sector doesn't work either...
... so what was changed?
it was the jump commands that were updated, not the flight commands.
there was a bug before when sometimes you couldn't use the command to jump into or out of a gateless sector.
there is also a new option to jump to a gateless sector, and will list all available sectors, rather than having to go via the universe map

I did a simple test and they die just as quick as 5 marines which is less than 14 seconds, the first 5 die as soon as they enter the ship ( the ship with no internal defences ).
Yes, I went off to try and board a Q, reading about boarding being re-done, and was quite shocked to discover the Xenon had been made HARDER to board... I get one report from the boarding party after they've penetrated the hull, and after that they're dead.
Well, at least it makes thing more clear... In the old one they got so far you started to think they *might* make it there some day, if you just kept trying, but now it's very clear they're never going to be able to do it and you don't have to bother trying... :D

The problem is that M7M boarding offers absolutely no challenge - it's completely risk-free & 100% successful every time.
It's so easy there's little point doing it, which is why I prefer using an M6 instead wherever possible - it doesn't always work - get the approach wrong & an M2 can rip apart an M6 in a matter of seconds, but that's precisely what makes it challenging, fun & immensely satisfying when it does work. However it also means I can't install the patch - it would completely ruin a very significant part of the game for me.
It's just a pity that I won't be able to enjoy all the other things the devs have included in the patch & probably won't be able to install any subsequent patches either. Also worry that it might mean that when the bonus pack is released it won't be compatible with 2.1.
I certainly don't see the boarding changes as any sort of improvement, it has certainly reduced the length of time I'll be playing the game, since there is no now prospect of being able to use any of the improvements or bug fixes the devs might include in future patches. Not happy.

But that is an opinion worth as any other.

That's all fine and well since in most space things a corvette is really just a very large fighter with turrets; but an M6 ought to be able to take another M6, which is clearly not happening with this P I want. [s]Ten[/s] Five (edit after post-combat check, but still, the point is they get NOWHERE) marines, all four star fighters and insta-death upon entry.
I'm off to cheat, because this is just excessive.

The opposite.

Okay, I downloaded the other patch file and now it works fine, thanks ncc386!
In post-patch news, the property sorting is probably the most useful thing to me at the moment (apart from the obvious performance boost) as I always wanted things categorised by ship-class. Also the used ship mission price comma-ing (or whatever you call it) is also pretty useful too
I've not experienced that kind of fun yet, but usually the likes of Argon Prime and Omicron Lyrae were slightly choppy without SETA activated, now they're pretty smooth even with SETA on
