The stock game has a set of script files named '*autotrade*'. With the Trade Mk3 upgrade in ship, they offer you the Sector Trader/Local Trader/Universal Trader command. That is the stock UT implementation.

EST has entirely different set of files with entirely different implementation. They clearly separate configuration from operation. And there are two implementations for configuration: manual and automatic. You do enable the automatic configuration routine by adding the Trade Mk3 extension. EST with Trade Mk3 does behave differently from stock UT.

I got the impression that the auto-configuration routine was not optimal on the earlier versions (alpha/beta) of EST, but has changed since. Anyway, it all boils down to the question:
Can the player manually limit the ship to trade set of wares in specific area more efficiently than the automatic routine does?

wyvern11 did that in the X3R economy.

Another followup question is:
Is the manual configuration by player so much more efficient, that it beats the convenience of simply starting the auto-mode?

That is very much up to the player. Some love micro-management, and some do not.

my opinion on Mk3 vs no Mk3 on EST (from about a dozen ESTs)

@jlehtone - thanks for the credits, but they are undeserved for X3tc as of yet.
In general, the profit-ranges in tc are not that steep anymore - making manual entries not that superior any more.

in general the efficiency of manual entries depends on some factors

- the freighter has to have at least one ware set with a high rate of appearance
- win depends not always on the best buy, but more often on the selling conditions
(eg weapons)
- good *real* profit per ton ratio of ware
- speed rules !!

some examples : best profit per ton ratio (on the selling conditions side) were cloth rimes
but they had a bad rate of appearance -> not so hot
soy beans had a medium profit per ton, but a massive rate of appearance -> best trade in X3r

from what ive seen of tc-Mk3-EST he does a good job and picks up good high price wares too, but I see the problem of setting these off.

*if* he bought 8 high-price weapons, he would need 4 runs to set them off, that would be two extra trade-runs completed

After having seen most of the universe, see where there is the largest gap between
producer and user - see that everything produced will be shifted by specialized EST. build factories for the remaining gap, take the next smaller gap ... use Mk3-EST to mop up the scraps -> this could be optimal strategy

- if so, is an up-to-date English translation available, yet..??
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D

Link to 3.1.01 (**more** stable  )
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... &start=225

The only difference posted by lucike is better performance on large EST-fleets (> 80 (Mk3?)-EST) and possibly on slower machines - so no guide
changes. But I see there have to be changes (3.1.00) to the trader ranks to be done - gonna ask lucike

I did not notice the lags yet, because i only got about 12 non-Mk3-ESt
and now i have to get rid of the massive plot-freebies - too much credits
as a gift

EDIT : Changed ranks to correct values

Hi Lucike and Wyvern11 !!!
I'm making the French translation of your scripts for the French community !
i've a big problem with the Libraries
At the launch of the game, i've the message that the language file for Pilot Union was not found !!!
I've installed the last version of EST, CAG and the library (Befehlsbibliothek) for X3TC
i've extracted and translated the 8013-L044.xml file that i've named 8013-L033.xml
Starting the Game in French or English does not solve the problem

I have a TS (a small Mercure) with EST trader (higher rank). The TS has a lot of damages. I want to order trader to a new TS (a bigger one) and I can't : when I choose the option in the menu, there is a little music (that means it's ok, I think). But, when I read the trader settings, there is no change. The new TS is equiped with Navigation Command Software MK1, Trade Command Software MK1 and MK2. I have this problem with the new version and the last beta version. I play with a french version of the game.

I'm also French speaking and I recently discovered this wonderful script that I'm extensively using.

I have the same issue at the launch of the game. I was however able to use the script by using the "-language 44" parameter to launch the game. I lose all voices that way, but at least I'm making money :)

That being said, I also tried renaming the English 8013-L044.pck file to 8013-L033.pck to no avail. I've tried the same for the 8005 files but same story (you receive 2 error messages at launch, one for Pilot Union and one for EST).

I'm using the Steam version of the game (don't know if that has any influence).

I'm all supportive of the translation effort to French as I have to admit the default MK3s are just not worth it.

Keep up the good work

Best Add-on For TC

Post by John Barker »

:D I think this is THE BEST add on script for TC. I don't know what computer/software the developers use but it's gotta be a lot better then Windows XP/Vista and your average home PC.
This add on should be incorporated into the next patch.
I love how the hired help train & become more adept at trading I love the options and I love how easily the program integrates with TC,
One thing... could you please write a small PDF manual so dumb arses like me can print it up & make the necessary changes whilst in the game.
Well done & many thanks.

@odin: pilot union is still in the making

@soggo: unzip 80xxx.pzk (it's a gzip-file) , it contains xml-files. in the active xml-file there is a tag near the beginning containing the language-id

you have to change that to make it work

I do not think that Mk3 is really buggy anymore (provided latest version is used)
freds ship waits for repairs - as far as i understand lucike intentions he will have programmed the ship to dock for repairs but not to repair by itself (as reg Mk3 does)
Oops, missed your reply. Actually, yes, the trader was waiting : I got a message from him in the log telling me he was docked and waiting for me to foot the repair bill 8)

ON a sidenote, I really can't stand the message system : why are there two different message queues ? The one in Player/Advance/message log and the flashing ones in the bottom left ? I really like it when I get a message that my Mistral Super Freighter was destroyed by Pirate Harrier in Akeela's Beacon... two hours later

Same for Lucike's scripts' messages : they all go in the log, even when it's a "I'm being attacked message", which is kind of annoying.

@tontonfred - given the fact, that new message-system is even more hidden than it was in X3R I see the point of personal mails.

Problem is (I believe) : The "your ship xxx was destroyed by yyy in zzz" does not come from lucikes script but is hardcoded and I am not sure (actually I cannot believe he wouldn't have tried to if he could) , if lucike can superpose, redirect, or even add an own message to standard if ship got killed.

to be specific : I think I read over a statement that ship-killed-signal for scripts is not reliable
lucike might know more

Is there an anglicized version of 3.1.01? I suppose I could just download the files and find out.. is it possible for one set of script files to support multiple languages?

The english language t file is included as standard in all of Lucikes scripts (at least, all the ones I have tried so far, anyway) - just update and angli-fly away!
