The problem is definitely components.txt - the XSP doesn't have any components entries, therefore the game doesn't know where the bullets fire from. My plugin manager seems to be having a fit just now (it will let me install the ship once, then if I make changes, it won't show up in game. However, if I install the ship in another X3 install (with changes) it'll work...but then if I make more changes it shows up as nothing :evil: )

Anyway, at the moment the large turrets on galactica are set up with 4 laser bodies, however in Tships it only has a gun count of 2, meaning both bullets come out the same barrel at the same time. Should it be 2 or 4?

I have to go to work now - I'll try and sort my plugin manager once I'm back.

Hail Apollo,
Is it possible to manually add the components file? Is it just another one to add to a folder or is it something which needs to be added a scene file or similar?
If it can simply be added could it be hosted for download so we can all make good use of these ships?
I'm more than willing to help you test possible solutions if you can point me in the right direction.

Hey Demon. I have a couple more thing to do then I'll post an updated version of the XSP with the new Tship and components entries, if that's ok with Hawkbs?

If it's ok with you Demon, could you test the new XSP? As I said, I'm having problems trying to install any XSP into X3 at the moment. Cheers.

Which of the two ships have you tried Galactica or Valkyrie, or both?

Cheers Demon, I managed to get my plugin manager working so no need for testing anymore :)

I've only looked at the Galactica so far - it's all sorted now, guns working. I'll post once it's uploaded somewhere.

Big thanks to Apollo for fixing those guns. I just havent got the time atm plus Id have to reteach myself how to mod them again after all this time.
If I recall I used custom guns on both the Galactica and Valkyrie. I used the ones from Coxxons Whole Frakkin Fleet Package and the ones that were on the original Valkyrie Mesh.

Hay hay Hawkbs and Apollo!
Massive massive thank you to you both!
Hawkbs for providing these awesome ships and to Apollo for the guns!

Minor problems now I've had time to test it:
No shipyard is set, easy to fix with the ship creator,
Alot of the custom guns, although now they fire, only one barrel goes off per turret, and a few shoot from all over the place.

I'm happy they go off at all, makes the Galactica usable in game for something other than a really awesome looking storeage hole.

Hmm, I noticed that only one barrel fires as well, but it's not true for all the turrets I think. On some turrets, (normally the ones not right beside the camera), fire from both barrels. I can't think what could solve this, the game is using the same turret setup for all the turrets.
There are only two components entries, one in each barrel, and there are definitely two guns per turret.
If you go to the camera on top of Galactica where you can see the turrets out in front of you - fire off a few rounds and watch the turrets that are farther from you, not the ones right at the front. Do they fire from both barrels?

Cheers for pointing out the shipyard problem, I'll upload a new version of the XSP.

Goo' Evenin' Apollo,
I've just given the guns a go, and here's my break down:
Front: I can't see what's going off,
Top: The left turret away from the camera both go off, but the other three its only the left barrel,
Back: The left turret closest to the camera both go off, but the rest only the left goes off,
Bottom: All four guns in front of the camera have the left barrel problem, the ones further down its hard to see, but judgeing from the shots I can see, it looks like the left most one the very farthest from the camera is going off both, but the rest are handy capped.

I'm glad they go off at all, but it would be nice if they all went off right.

I have no idea what's causing that. There is only one turret set up in use for the rail guns - so each should be identical. I'm stumped. They work mostly, so that's the main thing. I'm sure the guns are firing the right amount of bullets, just certain turrets are choosing to fire both from the same barrel.

Im pretty sure I used to get that with the regular turrets installed as well. BTW they are slightly off too if I recall the lasers fire from outside the barrels.
I also noticed that the same thing occasionally happened with my guns on my older Galacticas and it too had me perplexed. I thought it might have something to do with the gun count but god only knows what it is.
However a thought has just flashed right into my mind as I type this. I wasnt that crash hot on turrets and Im wondering whether or not now I made Cloned instances of the lasers which could be a cause. Sooooo long ago I do not recall though.
Any thoughts on that theory Apollo? Its about all I can think of.

Hiya guys!
I'll just start with, I know nothing about moding at all, but if it is something to do with each turret being a clone, then that would make some vague sense. Since one turret on each side fires right, possibly the original, and the rest are wrong, the clones, could this be our cause?

I had a thought myself, but again I know nothing of the process, you said Apollo that all the turrets used the same components entry? Not all the turrets on Galactica are the same, some are standard turrets. I thought this may be some form of interference, but based on what hawkbs just said, I doubt that’s it.
Frankly I'm more than happy all guns go off at all. Thank you both for these wonderful ships!
I look forward to a possible turret fixed Valkarie, even if its not perfect.

Hi Demon, just to fill you in you can make clone copies, but clone instances are different they inherit anything that you do to the original, whereas a clone copy doesnt.
Hopefully Apollo can do something there. Theres no way to check it apart from rebuilding the turrets from scratch. That is ditching the scene, loading up the bod and deleting the lasers then doing it all again plus the components etc.
Gah think I've got something wrong now cause Max 9 wont open anything and Max 2008 hates DBOX and I know that 2009 prolly does also.
Anyway Im off to watch Razor for the Umpteenth time lol. Wont be on much over the next few weeks as Im moving house.

Yeah, I found that out the hardway too about 2008. Max 9 can't open anything made in a newer version, I think the same applies for all Max versions. I didn't know 2009 was out already, my uni is upgrading to that soon.
I'll look into the galactica turrets again, but don't know what can be done.

Apollo, I installed the ship package using cycrow's plugin manager. when I created the galactica in-game I see nothing with exception to the turrets, launch bays, and docking bay. when I tried to disable the ship in the ship manager, it gives me an error message "there was an error trying to remove this mod" :? :? any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi ROLSTONE. Hmmm, very strange considering it worked for Demon of Rashomon. Have you tried uninstalling/re-installing it? Do you have the must up to date version of the plugin manager?

I have the same problem.

I do have X-tended installed, which seems to be the source of the problem.

I generally have trouble with the guns, but also with the drive flares, which appear to be inside the model in this ship. On other ships, like Hawkbs' raider, the drive effects showing up are those of a Nova (or something like it. 3 flare clusters on each side).

The thing is, I like Xtension a lot, but I'd also love to have the BSG ships. I have noticed that other modders had to make their ships compatible with Xtension for some reason. They seemed to have the same sort of problems.

Howdy doody baby cakes!
I too have the problem with the engines on the new raider, and the heavy raider.
My new Galactica however works fine other than the strange missfireing which overall doesn't have my underware in knots.
I do not run Xtended, seemed a little too much hassle so far, so it could be that the Galactica problems are Xtended mod based, except that IIRC Hawkbs has already said that he used to run Xtended and had no problems.
Just my thoughts, hope it all comes out in the wash,
