HELLLLP Complexes committing suicide!!!

Post by bluewiz1960 »

I had some problems with X3 crashing but I was able to work around that and get it running again. It seems to be running fine except for one problem...my factory complexes keep self destructing. I thought at first there was a station that was moving for some reason and causing a collision but if it is, it is moving suddenly and fast; I checked things with the FCC program V3.21. I noticed it was maxing out but I can't see that as being the problem. Has anyone seen this before? :? :(

Only thing i can think of is one of the stations is too close to another,so their shields or actual station parts are touching, and slowly wearing down until they go boom.

Yes, there is nothing like watching 30 station complex go BOOM ! :)

Yes, you out them too close together.

The only way to prevent it from destructing now is to reload, get out of sector immediately and never go back in there.

The destruct wont happen while you remain oos, but the second you go back in, the clock starts ticking again.

If you put them all too close together, then eventually they will go boom. But if tis only one, then the first one to go will take all the connectors with it, but the rest may be fine. You just reconnect (at expense).

If you let it go boom, you can at least use a tractor beam to move any station you think is too close, before you recomplex it.

Since you have FCC you can simply move the offending station out of the way once you've found it.

There's also a hotkey that sets the station automatically to a safe position.

To Identify the Station, you could use the "Show Station Information" Hotkey - it checks if a station collides with something else and shows the result in the message.

Thats just it....Show information says there is no problem right up until it crashes. After the crash, I can read messages telling me what station crashed. Oddly enough, one of my mines crashes into itself. I tried to run the option to move everything into a safe position but evidently I don't understand the directions for FCC well enough. When I order the complex to move into a safe position it beeps at me. I assume therefore I have to target the stations themselves. Anyone want to give the correct procedure for FCC.
As a furthur note, this is my main station and it has been up for many months without this kind of problem so the game crash seems to have changed something. WEIRD but thats what it looks like.
Some stations survive so I might be stuck with saving the balance and rebuilding....YUCK

Sounds like this should be on the FCC thread over in script land.

Save, self-destruct the hub, and then check each station individually by targetting it from the sector map.

If that doesn't find it, then I dunno - just stay OOS! :).

If self destructing the hub, make sure you remove everything first including any docked ships.

@bluewiz: If you want to solve the problem with the FCC, please post your question in the corresponding thread. I'll help you, but this is not the right place ;)
