I'm actually quite pleased with my UK manual. I myself live in the US, and this game is by far one of the more involved that I've ever played. Even if I disagree with using the 'Gated community' system structure, I don't mind it entirely. This is a great game, and I honestly have only experienced one thing that upsets me. Then again, maybe I'm just lucky.

And thanks for letting us know about the manual issue. Will this also be available for those with the UK version registered?

I knew it couldn't be right. Sorry guys but the manual was, in a word, embarrassing. :o

Game was relased before it was complete and was buggy as all get out before patched. Why?
Publisher

Game uses Starforce, and every one in the world hates that (except software pirates who can beat it any way). Why?
Publisher

US version relased on 6 CD's while those across the pond get DVD. Why?
Publisher

US version has a manual written in the dark ages by candle light by a guy with a long beard. He was sitting next to another guy writting the Bible. Why?
Publisher

I'm having a hard time thinking of much that egosoft did wrong here, except for their choice of publishers (love that hindsight).
I'm sure the publisher has a website, so everyone should go flame that and give egosoft a break!

Well, Egosoft didn;t have to give their publisher the game to go to market with. If however, Egosoft was in a contractual agreement with them, then it is both parties fault.

The manual will be available for all registered users regardless of region.

Sue your US publishers.. their responsible for making X3 come out too soon anyway.. in a broken state. .how DARE they use that manual.. sue them!

do it!

make them suffer for pressing you into relaseing x3.. WAY WAY to early.

But when?

Post by AngelOfDeath71 »

Uhh...guys, its been four days since you've mentioned that the US manual was incorrect. Since the manual already exists, how long does it take to PDF the file and put it online?

I initially loaded the game, checked the manual for instructions on how to get into the tutorials, and was confused when they were missing. I could rotate my ship around in space, but no idea on how to get the ship to move!

I've found the links to the FAQs now, so I'm trying to go through those, but they are not a substitute for a proper manual and tutorial missions for us X newbies.

So please, give us a target date?

Thanks!

We are putting up a revised manual, not the final one. Also, unless we change the formatting drastically (still a possibility) it will then have to be produced by the publishers so this is not a "couple of days" task.

Glad to hear there will be an update. Thanks for the info.

I was wondering why the manual was saying I should have 120,000 credits after the tutuorial, but I could not find a tutorial in the game anywhere. :?

Of course the info, scripts, and mods provided by a great gaming community was a much better tutorial than I could have asked for.

If I purchase the game now will the manual still be incorrect??
Is there a source that when I purchase the game the Manual will be complete. From what I read there is no real tutorial so I am sure I will heavily be relying on the Manual.

So, when available, I download the pdf manual. Then I'll have to print it using my own ink and paper costing more money for an obvious mistake by someone else? Great. Any chance of sending manuals to registered users? Since we can't alt+tab out to check something in game.

How soon can we expect a revised manual for download?

So am I missing something or where is the PDF manual available for download?

This was supposedly stated as being "a draft copy we had been working on some six weeks prior to release" that was erroneously shipped with the game.

Well surely if this was truly just some kind of clerical error the finished product must be sitting around on someone's office computer just waiting to be posted on the site for download right?

If you actually read the post, you will see that we are not just putting the completed UK manual up for download, but also adding some content to it based on the feedback from the UK game owners as well. Hence the slight delay.

Let me guess: You're using Lotus Notes/Arena in the office as a file sharing work group/database, right? We're using that at work, and we've had problems with old version files being distributed, even when the new versions have been saved to database...

And may I ask why there are different manuals for the UK and the US versions of the game, seeing as they're both the same language?

Anyway, once again I'm impressed with Egosoft's honesty and sense of responsibilty to their customers.
