[MiniMod] Galaxy Upgrade - GUI
English Thread | German Thread
Preliminaries:
Hello everyone. First of all - sorry, my English isn't the best.
I'm currently working on a bigger project which is, however, divided into small MiniMods and ModKits. Of course there will be a mod which contains all these parts but that one won't be finished in the next time.
These part-mods are constructed with maximal compatibility in mind, e.g. you will either be able to use this with any bigger mod or there will be a compatible version.
This whole project is called Galaxy Upgrade (GU), by the way.
========================================================================
========================================================================
Welcome, dear customer! I am Bala Gi, head of the Bala Gi Research Inc.
I'm very pleased to announce this new modification, built by the argon Kalus Dsema, whose products we publish.
Bala Gi Research Inc wishes you a good tazura and a good time in the depths of the known universe.
========================================================================
========================================================================
Feautures:
- A revised GUI:
- New HUD-icons
- The whole GUI was made brighter or in some cases darker
- New speed indicator
- Weapon and missile symbols were revised and made distinguishable
- Special objects now have their own, specific colored symbols
- New rendered station icons
- New quickmenue icons
- This mod is compatible with all other mods! (but other HUD/GUI-mods are being overwritten, obviously)
========================================================================
Screenshots:

(I have a widescreen so the HUD icons are sometimes not on their usual places (in the frames of the cockpits of Imp.-'s Cockpit Mod). If you use a normal resolution, you won't have these problems.)

========================================================================

03/23/08 - Release version 110. Fixed the gravidar, includes new station icons and minor bugfixes.
03/15/08 - Release version 101. CTDs and pixelated icons fixed.

========================================================================
Additional informations for modder and scripter:
It is allowed - even encouraged - to use this mod as a part of your mod/script. But if you do that, mention it in the ReadMe! or somewhere else, please.
Changed files:- The files gui_master.dds ; gui_background.dds ; gui_background_bar.dds ; gui_quickmenuselect.dds ; gui_bars.dds ; gui_markers.dds ; gui_radar.dds
- The files IconData.txt

Very nice looking. Are there known conflicts with XTM? (I know the Minimal HUD has a problem with the AHEPT/LI class icons getting switched...)
Many thanks  |
Ah, yes. I just looked into the XTM files and you're right.
I'll do a XTM version to fix this problem.

Hmmm... I've installed the current version (not using XTM anymore since last post... ) and it causes my game to crash when I attempt to access the navmaps or the tab menu. As well, all the icons that are replaced are highly pixelated and obviously incorrect...
...?

Do you use any other mods besides the GUI-Mod? What resolution do you use? Graphic Settings?
I might have to reproduce the bug to be able to correct it. As for now, I don't have an idea what might be the problem. :/

Currently I'm using Imp's cockpits, but that's it for mods. I'm largely running on minimum graphics settings., minimum resolution- shaders are turned up to medium.
I've used the Minimal HUD in the past without issues... I could attempt to post some screencaps, if that would help.

I seem to be having a similar problem at a higher level...the game crashes upon attempting to play the game (Simulator, New Game, etc).
Screen's at 1024 x 600, medium textures, low shading.

Any other mods installed?
Both of you: Do you know how to use the X3 Mod Manager? That'd make finding the cause of the crash a lot easier.

The only other mod I have on is the engine effects, which I have as an activated mod since the readme said not to make it a fake patch, other then that, nothing else.
No...no I don't.

The engine mod can't be the problem... they have only the loading bars and -screens in common.
Hm. This is really weird. I'll probably need more test from diffrent users to find the problem. :/

I am now able to reproduce the first bug - pixelated icons and CTD when accessing the menue. The cause seems to be the low graphics settings (I'm running the game on the highest so I don't have this problem).
I'm trying to solve this problem now.
EDIT: The texture settings seem to be the problem. Try with texture settings on "high" again. (I'm aware that not everyone's PC is capable of running on that. I'm working on solving this problem so you'll be able to use it with medium/minimum settings, too)

Yeah, that did it, this is by far the sexiest HUD I've ever seen.
