Preliminaries:
Hello everyone. First of all - sorry, my English isn't the best. :)
I'm currently working on a bigger project which is, however, divided into small MiniMods and ModKits. Of course there will be a mod which contains all these parts but that one won't be finished in the next time.
These part-mods are constructed with maximal compatibility in mind, e.g. you will either be able to use this with any bigger mod or there will be a compatible version.
This whole project is called Galaxy Upgrade (GU), by the way. ;)

Feautures:
  • The old X2 engine trails are back! All ships of the M5, M4 and M3 (of course the M3+ too * ) class get their old trails back which have diffrent colors from race to race. This means that split for example get red trails and teladi green ones.
  • This mod is compatible with all other mods!
* If you use this mod with the XTended Mod, you will notice that the Argon Eclipse does not have the new engine trails. This is because this ship has a diffrent model in the XTM.

Warning:
Altough it is written in the ReadMe! I am going to write it again: Do not install this mod as a fake-patch! If you are using another mod, make that one to a fake-patch and run this mod in the startmenue as a mod.

Additional informations for modder and scripter:
It is allowed - even encouraged - to use this mod as a part of your mod/script. But if you do that, mention it in the ReadMe! or somewhere else, please. :)

Changed files:
  • All M3, M4 and M5 scenes. (the goner ship too)
  • The file fx_engine_boron_M3.

I just noticed that the boron trails still aren't right... I'll fix that as fast as possible with version 110.

Good looking, I miss the old trails.

I remember too, though, that the old X2 ships had an engine glow that would create a lens flare sort of thing on the screen... and each race's flare was distinctive... what's the chance of that showing up? I miss those :D

Awesome stuff though.

About that: The long particle trail of the X2 ships got a little harder to add. The problem is that I do indeed know how but I'd have to do lots of testing to get the right one. (Actually I think there are around 150 diffrent trails. I'd have to test each one by editing the mod each time I want to see another trail...
And then there is the compatibility issue. I'd have to make diffrent versions for each mod which also changes the TShips.

EDIT: All who downloaded the mod before today 23:30 GMT+1 - before I edited this into this post - should download the mod again due to hotfixes.

I wonder if the engine trails not being present on some ship variants have anything to do with installing it as a fake patch...

In the previous versions, that wasn't the cause. If someone has none of the new/old engine trails now, with the newest version, that might very well be.

Nope. As the khaak are in X3 the same as in X2, I didn't change them.

However, if you want a change of the khaak, Jakesnake5 is working on a mod to improve them. :)
