[SCRIPT] Claim Unknown Sector v1.06 - *Updated 03/01/2008*

Post by Lazerath »

===========================================
Name: Claim Unknown Sector
Version: V1.06
Author: Lazerath
Released: 07/10/2007 (dd/mm/yyyy)
Updated: 03/01/2008
Website: http://lazcorp.lazerath.com
===========================================

:arrow: Download Laz-Corp Claim Unknown Sector (Requires Cycrows Plugin Manager found Here!)

===========================================

Script Adds:

Ship Menu Command: Claim Unknown Sector (Custom Menu)

Ability to Claim Unknown Sectors

This script enables players to claim an unknown sector as their own. It changes the Race in the Universe Map from Unknown to their player name.

In order to claim an unknown sector the player must set up his Player headquarter or any race Equipment dock in that sector. After you've set up your Station, go to your ship menu, custom, click on Claim Unknown Sector.

Vuwalla! Its done.

I've always thought that players should be able to claim unknown sectors as their own. This script adds a new command to the Custom Menu on your ship that only allows you to claim unknown sectors by first placing your Headquarter or Equipment Dock (Purchased from any race) in it.

:arrow: Ver 1.06 (New Release)

- Added Information to command. When you highlight the command (in game), press " i " to display information on how the command is used (in game)

Ver 1.05

- Complete overhaul of the script which improves its usability.
- Script now uses proper checks so the command is only available when the ship running the command (any Player owned ship) is in an Unknown Sector which has either a Player headquarters or Player Equipment Dock.
- Command can now be run from ANY player owned Ship.

Example: You send your TL Class ship to an Unknown Sector. You jump in, build your Equipment dock but then have to jump out right away because one of your Convoys is under attack. After dealing with the pirate scum who attacked your convoy you remember you never claimed that unknown sector.

Simply go to the Universe Map, select the unknown sector with your Equipment Dock/Headquarters. Select any of your ships in that sector and go to their "Custom" menu and choose "Claim Unknown Sector". Vuwalla its done!

Ver 1.04
* Optimization of script

Ver 1.03
* Added Argon, Boron, Paranid, Split, Teladi Equipment docks (if owned by player) to list of stations that player can use to claim an Unknown Sector
- If you have already set up your Player headquarter in another sector, now you don’t have to cheat one into the game. Go buy an any races Equipment Dock and use it!
* Optimization of script

Ver 1.02 (Not Released)
* Optimization of script

Ver 1.01
* Claim Unknown Sector Via Ship Custom Command Menu
- Player must place Player headquarter in Unknown Section before trying to Claim Unknown Sector

I'd like to say thank you to all the guys who helped answer my questions and showed me lots of patience ;-).

Cool..Downloaded...Quick question:
In the next version I will make it so you can claim more then one unknown sector as your own
As long as I set up a player HQ in "each" sector, I can claim more than one Unknown with this script?....Thanks

Yes, you can claim more then one unknown sector with this script. However, because I chose to have the initial script be based on the Headquarters station you get when you complete the Bala Gi missions you would have to cheat more player Hq into your game. Unless of course you are using one of the shipyard scripts that adds the headquarter station to them for sale.

EDIT:

New Stations Added for claiming Unknown Sectors

END EDIT

I'm learning as I go here and I've had a lot of help from Cycrow, Nividium, Eladan with fixing my script structure and code. I keep going cross eyes from staring at it.. :S LoL. It feels good though :D in a sick sorta way ;-)

I'm looking for some ideas on what could be added to this script. Feed back is welcome! :wink:

@lazerath....I like it just the way it is..Simple, logical approach. you find a Unknown, you build on it, claim it and defend it.

One thing really out of place to me in this game and does not make sense is Savage Spur...How could an "unknown" have a name? :D

This is a good script I will use rather than all the bells and whistles of the other "takeover" ones....Cheers

:thumb_up: :thumb_up:

Simple is sometimes the best option.

Roger ;-)

I was thinking it might be cool to add the placement of nav sats automatically for you when the sector is claimed, of course it would have to subtract a small amount from you bank account if you don't have the satelites in your cargo bay.

I'm working on releasing a second script which you might find useful as well. I'll try to have it released by tomorrow. :D

A good NAV SAT script would be great, but I really don't see how it would tie in to this script...Easy enough to place a single sat there yourself.

As I said before..I think you have a good thing here that many will use that choose "not" to utilize the more intense versions of sector claiming...Cheers

Well, that's because Savage Spur spelled backwards is Unknown Sector, or is it Rups Egavas. I don't know, I always get those two mixed up. :lol:

OMG , I was just going to post a question regarding this.
Because I am trying not to cheat this time around playing X3 with XTM MOD.
and I have been in and out of shipyards, equipment docks and factories and
I could not find anything about it, unless im blind and missed it.

Because I have been hearing that you can actually own a sector,
but no one ever talked any more about it or how to do it.

And here you are with this awesome script.

Now I have something to shoot for and be proud to own and protect.
YAY ! - Here comes the ( S'Jet ) territories.

By the way I am known as " S'Jet " pronounced as ( Sajet ) in the Universe.

By the way someone should make a post and pinn it and post all the MODS in it and NOT let anyone post on it, its just for members to go and download direct links to the MODS.

XTended Mod v0.7a
XTD_bonus_pack_v1.1_32bit
XFP_V4.2 for X3
XFP_V4.2 for X2
Roguey Mod
RogueysBonusMod-v208
Roguey Mod Total v1.0
Roguey_X2_Extreme-v2
DDRS_ShipStation_Mod_V2.5
ITS_ARG_CP_MOD_V1c
TOP GUN MOD version 2.5
CreaTive FX-Mod 0.6

Etc Etc Etc,...... I know there is more. but you get the point.
I wish a Moderator or Egosoft itself would do this.,
I am still hunting for MODS and its hard to find them all through all these
postings.........lol

Anyways
Thank you so very much for this script.

Thank you.

Your welcome! :wink:

There is a sticky at the top of the forum which lists a lot of mods and scripts.

Here is the link

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=96340

I am very close to releasing another script. Just waiting for some feed back/help from Cycrow on one issue I have left with it. It is something that will work well with this script and the XUniverse in general. (I got the idea from XTM).

Take care!

Hi

I much appreciate the work you've done, but

As many players better use trading station than an equipment dock in an sector for supply of anything I suggest to add an trading station among the stations that allows you to claim

and

I don't know if it is possible but would be very useful if you be able to change the sector's name after you claim it.

That's all I wanted to say and thanks again for the script

Hello EI X.

One of the main reasons why I used Equipment docks and Player Headquarters is the fact you can use them for your large vessels M1, M2, TL and M7s. Plus all of the great scripts that are out there for them.

I will however look at adding Trading Stations to my next release ;-). I'll post it as soon as I have it done.

Glad you like it ;-)

Is it possible to rename the sector?

is it possible to rename the sector?

Answer: Yes, but it involves a great deal of work.

Someone was working on a way to change the name in game however it is a very involved process which uses multiple script and text files if I remember correctly.

The only other way to change the name of a sector is to create a mod, use the X-universe map and change it that way.

That is one of the reasons why I came up with this script, its sorta the middle ground and you get to claim your own sector (with not other races owning it). I don't recall what the sector take over script does as its been a while since I checked up on that one. It may however accomplish what you are looking for.

Cheers!

*if* i manage to get the custom gui with all the features i would like.

then you will be able to use that to rewrite text files allowing you to rename sectors ;)
